Sleepless night

Posted Feb 23, 2015
Pros: Good location near restaurants
Cons: Air conditioning
The Hotel Old Adelaide is in a good location, and the room was clean and tidy, but I had an awful stay there in room 221. It was a 40 degree plus day when we checked in at around 3pm. We were just leaving our bags and coming back at night. The room looked fine - clean bathroom, firm bed, inverter air conditioner on the wall with a remote control which I checked. No problem, it switched on ok. When we returned late that night, the room was sweltering. The other areas of the hotel were pleasantly cool, including the hall outside the room door. No problem, put the air con you would think. We waited and waited for the temperature to adjust before we realised the COOL function didn't work, only the fan, which was totally useless on such a hot night. The air con unit was in such a position on the wall that the fan didn't even move the air around the bed, and the louvres were broken so the air was being directed to the ceiling. It is stifling even with the window open! What an uncomfortable night - it was almost impossible to sleep. We couldn't wait to get out of there in the morning. At about 6 am, I opened the door to the hall to feel some of the cool air from the hall. When I checked out I reported the problem to the person on reception who apologised, but made no offer of any compensation e.g. free breakfast (not that I asked).

Nice Hotel within the CBD & Close to the Oval

Posted Feb 18, 2015
Pros: Its like 15 mins walking distance from the Adelaide Oval and 20 min to the CBD.
Cons: 1. The room can be bit more brightly lit; as the lighting was a bit dull. A creamer or milk powder can be provided as a part of its coffee/tea making.
Location: Visit the Adelaide Oval, Art Centre, Casino, Museum, shopping precinct.
We stayed in the place during our visit to Adelaide to watch the IND Vs PAK cricket match. The staff was very kind and helpful enough to organise a room for us before our normal check-in time despite the heavy rush period. The room was decent with a A/C, TV and included all the basic facilities needed for a short stay. Overall, its a decent place to stay for one night for people who prefer to stay close to the Oval and CBD for

We have stayed here before so we knew it was close to the hospital where we needed to be. Travelling 400kms for drs is a little easier when you can find a reasonable priced place to stay close by.

Convenient for CBD, roomy and friendly.

The Hotel was convenient for work and the free parking is a decimate bonus not available in City hotels. The room was comfortable and a good size though the decor was a bit dated but with character. Staff are friendly, approachable and more than happy to help.
