“Very pleasant and relaxing place to stay”

The hotel is in an excellent location, a short walk away from the centre of Lipari town. It is very peaceful and the rooms have character. The staff are very accommodating. We were met at the port to help us to find our way to the hotel and were able to park our car easily which was very helpful.

“Just what we were looking for!”

The Portinenti Hotel was exactly what we were looking for! This is a small hotel on the south edge of town just few feet from a lovely little pebbly swimming beach. We walked down with our snorkeling gear and had a good time exploring (even saw an octopus!). The rooms were clean and quite spacious by European standards. We originally thought all rooms had kitchenettes, but the room we were shown initially simply had a small fridge. They were more than happy to switch us to another room. The beds were firm, but not as hard as many European hotels. The porch was a bonus: spacious with seating, table and drying rack. The harbor was a decent walk away, but we were offered a ride both on arrival and departure. The staff was especially helpful and friendly and even arranged for us to have a half day out on a boat with guide who showed us wonderful scenery and great snorkeling spots. In addition, we enjoyed a wonderful hike, fabulous food, and a warm welcome from all the locals. Definitely a place you don't want to miss!

“A very friendly place to stay”

The staff are very friendly and room is spacious with kitchen facility. Beyond my expectation.

“We wouldn't stay anywhere else!”

This hotel is located about 5 minutes' walk from the main street, perfect for popping in to the centre to eat, shop, or pick up a boat trip. For us, this hotel had the best of both worlds - we could have breakfast communally downstairs with other guests, but our room had a hob & a fridge so we could make ourselves packed lunches & weren't obliged to eat out every night. We booked with confidence after reading some positive comments on another website, and we weren't disappointed. The staff were very friendly & helpful, most spoke English, which made life much easier! They were happy to make phone calls for us (lost luggage, car hire, bus/hydrofoil to Sicily), recommended lovely places to eat, & even gave us an earlier breakfast & a lift to the hydrofoil on the day we left. The continental breakfasts were delicious, cereals, yogurt, fresh bread, & local oranges from which we squeezed our own juice using the motorised squeezer. Our spacious room was comfortable, clean & stylish and the balcony had a sea view. We couldn't fault this hotel & were touched by the kindness of the staff & the quality of service we received.

“An island retreat”

The hotel is situated on a little bay with a view to the sea. It is modern, exceptionally clean, and run by a frindly family who make you feel they confortable. The room we stayed in had a kitchenette, and we were provided with a key for access at all hours to the hotel so made our stay very flexible. The facilities are simlple and exceptionally clean, ensuring a quiet ambience in a beautiful quiet location. Lipari town - a hive of local activity with its cafes and marina - is a pleasant ten minute walk.

“Great experience all around”

Very nice experience. We were given the choice of two rooms, both were spacious - one with a kitchen or one with a bigger bed. We were only there for the weekend so we picked the bigger bed. The hotel is on a quiet street just 2 blocks from the main street with all the shops and restaurants. The lady at the front desk was very nice and answered all our questions. Breakfast was a typical European one. Would stay here again.

“Nice appartments”

The appartments are very nice and well equipped, but was expecting a sea view from the balcony and services available in the evening/night.

“ok hotel, probably better in-season”

Just to caveat this review, we stayed here in the 1st week of March which was somewhat out of season, the weather was a bit miserable and no-one else was staying in the hotel. The positives: the woman who ran the hotel was incredibly helpful and even offered to drop us to the port very early in the morning. The negatives: breakfast was limited, the room not particularly quiet - not really helped by the feuding cats outside in the middle of the night. Lipari itself is a fairly small town and it's quite easy to get around.
