Snooty but great view!

Posted Jun 15, 2014 on Hotels.com
What is it with so many 5star places in Italy!? Instead of providing more comfort and assistance, they just seem to increase the snooty factor? Our 1st evening we were dressing for dinner after a refreshing swim in lovely pool, but found it impossible to adjust the temperature below the stiflingly high level it seemed stuck on. We finally discovered that the temperature of our room could only be controlled by a computer at the front desk and not by the control in our room?!? My husband finally persuaded the temperature tyrant that we were schvitzing despite the temperature, 24 celsius, being what he considered "the norm all around Italy", he reluctantly lowered it and said it would only take 10 minutes or so to adjust. Meanwhile, my make-up was still running down my face as we left to eat 15 mins. later. Also, neither our bath foam nor our skin creme were replaced the 2nd day until we made special requests. The restaurant had very friendly and accommodating waiters, but the food was very disappointing and overpriced by a factor of 3. View is beyond stunning, however, so maybe consider staying and eating elsewhere in town (Kalos is excellent!) and grab dessert /coffee afterwards to admire spectacular view.

Amazing location

My daughter and I spent a night here primarily to visit the Valley of the Temples. We opted for a cheaper room which overlooked the car park but was still very spacious and comfortable. If your budget allows get a room that faces the Greek Temple. We had drinks on the patio watching the sun set over the temple and then a lovely dinner on the terrace with a view to the temples that are beautifully lit at night. I couldn't recommend this hotel more. It would make a fantastic honeymoon spot or romantic getaway.

Gorgeous!

Absolutely beautiful, stunning experience. Hotel and staff were wonderful and location divine. We wound up eating dinner at the restaurant twice since the food was excellent and view of temples at night can't be beat. Wonderful pool. The only improvement we can recommend is that we could have used a hook in the bath to hang up the robes provided. But, if that's the only recommendation for improvement, you know it has to be great.

Fantastic views of amazing Greek temples

Posted Jun 2, 2014
Pros: Everything! The room was tasteful and relaxing; staff were helpful; setting was brilliant and both breakfast and evening meals were excellent.
Cons: Nothing.
Location: Right in the middle of the Valley of Temples, so fantastic views and easy to walk to the main attraction of Agrigento.
We spent three nights at Villa Athena. Everything about it was wonderful, from our welcome, to the room, food and amazing views from the terrace restaurant. We can't recommend it highly enough.

The best hotel

Posted May 27, 2014 on Hotels.com
Loved this hotel. It is the perfect location for visiting the Valley of the Temples and the Archeological Museum in Agrigento. The hotel is beautiful, the view magnificent. We only stayed 1 night, but didn't want to leave, because it was the best hotel of our whole trip. Only drawback: the restaurant was not very good & was expensive. But there wasn't really anyplace else to eat nearby.

Spent 4 nights - used as base to explore area

Pros: Room very comfortable. Food good. Dining on patio looking at temples awesome. Buffet breakfast generous. Great location to see Valley of Temples
Location: Valley of Temples short walk, other regional sites require driving - stunning beachside cliff, more old sites within 1-2 hour drive.
Elegant hotel with wonderful view of 2500 year old temples

Don't arrive without a man.

Pros: The room was lovely, as well as the views. The restaurant was good and the staff was mostly helpful after instance.
Cons: Treat all customers the same.
The place is beautiful and the views are great however, I was traveling with a female friend and we were not treated too well. We were given a lesser room than we had paid for until we complained then we were given a double bed instead of twins as requested at the initial booking. We tried to make this work but it did not and my friend had to book (and pay for) a separate room. We had called 2 days in advance to book a table in the outdoor dinning room and when we arrived we were given a table in the far back with no view and were told that the tables with a view were for people to had reservations (which we had). We spoke with the gentleman seating us and he found our reservation and moved us to a nice table. I feel that if we were a couple instead of two women traveling, we might have been treated differently.
