“Not that great”
Having read other reviews, I expected to find the hotel to be of a high standard. I was slightly disappointed. The rooms need compete refurbishment and updating. Although not an old hotel, there were several signs that it is very "tired" - damaged tiles, darkened grout and off-colour sealant in the bathroom, plus curled edges on the laminate flooring and badly finished tiling.
Food in the restaurants was passable, but not of a particularly high standard and the staff were pleasant, but not especially attentive.
Room decoration seemed to be an attempt at a modernist approach, but fell a little short of the mark. The bed was comfortable though. Although the internet was free, I had difficulty sending anything but a simple e-mail. Oh, and the fire alarm went off at 1:00am because someone had been smoking where they shouldn't.
Overall, not that impressed, but is may be a feature of the region, as I wasn't that impressed with another 5* hotel I stayed at in Ahmedabad either, and I'm not that fussy,
In Europe, this might be classed as a mediocre 3-4 star hotel, rather than the 5* it seems to claim to be, so if you are expecting luxury, think again. It's reasonably clean and not bad, but it's not that great either. I don't think I'll stay here again - I'll probably go back to Le Meridien.
