Location is excellent, literally across the road from Akihabara train station. Rooms are on par with general hotel rooms in Japan (as a westerner this felt small, compared to western hotels, but that was consistent across Japan). Rooms and bathroom were very clean and in great condition. Bathroom was clean and water was nice an hot, bathtub actually fitted me in it too.
Only problems were: The bed was harder than average, Japanese hotel beds always seem to be a little hard, but this was a little harder than average. The English channels on the TV were not working most of the time, not a large issue but slightly annoying.
Compared to the Gracery in Ginza (same hotel group), the Gracery feels a little nicer, but also a little pricer, and the gap was consistent with the price. The Gracey is also not nearly as well located.
Would definitely choose to stay again.

Location: 15 minutes walk from the Keisei Ueno station (fastest transportation to/from Narita Airport). Primarily a residential area, extremely convenient location, 3 minutes walk to subway station which takes you to just about every where in Tokyo. 15 minutes walk to Akihabara. Inexpensive dining places, a 7-11 a convenient store/market and a great sushi take-out place within 2 blocks.
Room: extremely small, but very clean. The bed and pillows are VERY HARD and could be quite uncomfortable for a skinny person like me if sleep on the side (too much pressure on the bony parts of my body).
Bathroom: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand cream, hair brush, razor, q-tips and hair-dryer are provided.
Internet access: As of Mar 20 2015, WIFI is available in all rooms and the lobby.
Breakfast/Food: meat, salad, egg and various kinds of bread, plus coffee, milk and orange juice. Served in the front lobby (no restaurant). Vending machines (pop, canned coffee, beer etc) and a microwave available at the ground level.
Overall: love everything about the hotel, except the bed and the pillow, but all the other good things outweigh it so I am determine to stay here again the next time I'm in Tokyo.

This hotel is great as far as location. A minute walk to the station, and just two minutes to Akibahara. Staff is great, hotel is in great condition, but of all the hotels I stayed at in Japan for a two week stay, this was the smallest. While not inconveniently small, small enough that we were glad we stayed only one night.
All in all I would recommend this hotel, because it was a very nice hotel, with great staff, and location.

Hotel staff was polite and courteous. Complementary toiletries was nice for the items I may have forgotten or couldn't pack. They upgraded my husband and I to a bigger room which we were very grateful for.

For the reasonable price I paid I have no complaints. For what it is, Hotel Yanagibasi delivers on expectations. Super close the Asakusabashi station. Go out exit A-1 and turn left and walk straights. It is down a side street off the main road so when you get to the Sunkust convenience store turn left and walk down the street. The hotel will be on your right.

Shoppers looking for the newest technical gadgets, DVDs, and videogames flock to Akihabara, Tokyo’s glittering “Electric Town.” The bustling streets around Akihabara Station house thousands of computer and electronics shops, several multi-floor classic arcades, and a giant seven-floor anime store. The area is popular with anime fans that crowd the streets on weekends wearing colorful costumes.
