Avoid room 206!

Posted Jan 12, 2014
Whatever you do avoid room 206. The verandah/seating area is next to the room and can get quite noisy with people drinking until in the early hours of the morning. I suggested to staff to display a sign to inform guests about this but nothing was done. We had tell guests ourselves. Room is swept everyday, bed made and towels changed but that's about it. The bathroom was dirty. There is no powerpoint in the bathroon. Food okay. Only good thing is the location-beachfront

Great Hotel in front of the beach.

Posted Jan 9, 2014
Pros: In front of the beach, friendly service.
Cons: Newer AC units, in-room fridge.
Location: Food, parasailing, scuba diving, snorkeling.
We stayed for New Years because we anted a hotel in front of the beach. Indeed this hotel as many others are in front of it, but this one was very affordable. We made a good decision, the hotel staff are very friendly and never gave us a hard time; they were accommodating and tried to satisfy our requests when possible. I thought the room we booked was going to be small, but it turned out to be bigger than other places we have stayed in the Philippines. The room does not have a fridge (but staff could accommodate to keep things for us), the TV set was not a 40 inch flat screen, but it had more than 40 cable channels (we always found something to watch, HBO, Cinemax, History, discovery, etc.). Bathroom was good with hot water (not that we need it for the hot weather), and it has no hairdrier (if you need one, bring your own). I am glad we booked the Arwana Hotel, had everything we needed, drinks, food,is in front of the beach (literally), and in walking distance from other places to eat, explore, and have fun. Sure there are better looking hotels, but for twice as much. I forgot to say that they have WiFi in the lobby, but will not reach the room. My advice for internet connection is to get a P80 SMART (cell company) sim and charge it with P300 to get a full week of unlimited internet service in your phone to share with your devices; it worked good for us in Boracay.

My view on hotel quality, food, location, service

Posted Jan 2, 2014 on Hotels.com
The location is nice, less crowded, not far from action & food,5~10min stroll. The sea is within 30m from hotel door. it is good for a dip, not good for snorkeling as it is where all the boats parked, so traffic is heavy 50m into the water. A better snorkeling spot is 5 min walk to the end of beach station 3, best among all possible snorkeling spots from station 1 to 3 that I have explored, but you must have water confident to go there, as current are strong, and most of the time you are alone there. The hotel service is normal, not a lot of initiatives, but anything I asked for is answered. Food, I only tried the breakfast as it is in the package, it is normal, nothing special, but the beer is the cheapest I found on the island, 25peso from 1pm~10pm. The Wi-Fi is working both at room and lobby but only for low traffic applications, no video, last few days of my stay, it became unpredictable. The room condition is acceptable for a budget hotel. But I cannot accept the frequent power shutdown, although they have backup generator, it does not supply power to the air-con, so I need to ask for fan every time it happen. Another complains is the chicken next door don't seem to sleep, keep calling throughout the night. Maybe Arwana boss should do something about this dissatisfaction, without which, Arwana will be a good spot to relax on the tourist packed island.

Rested in November 2013. Great location, the beach is 10 meters away, quiet place. Clean rooms. Delicious breakfasts. Book Superior room, the standard is small.

superb service!!!

The room is ok... but we didn't go to boracay to stay in the room... we have a decent bed, a tv and an air conditioner... we stayed out much of the day so the room isn't really that of a big deal... the staff and the service is superb!!! very courteous, approachable and humble!!!! always there when u need 'em... the food is great as weLL!!! oh, and by the way, the Hotel is located in station 3, and it wasn't that crowded... the beach is just outside the hotel so u kind of like have ur private beach...for the price I paid and the service I received, I would recommend this place without a doubt!
