One of Akron's best!Posted Feb 1, 2014
Pros: The restaurant and the fabulous bed.
We had spur of the moment business in Akron which required us to spend the night because of distance to drive. We chose the Double Tree because the rates were good and it had a descent rating. Once we arrived we were pleasantly surprised. This hotel had the quality of hotels in the area that were charging up to $100 more for a weekend night. And we did use the other higher priced hotels several times when Akron still had the dinner theater. Double Tree accommodations are top notch from the bedding to the lobby! Very clean and fresh. The extreme winter weather kept us venturing out for dinner. The Double Tree has a fabulous restaurant. We had dinner and breakfast there. We walked away very satisfied....our dinners were truly amazing and didn't break the bank as most hotel restaurants do. The staff is pleasant and personable. We spent some time in the lounge since the snow continued on and on. We had a wonderful evening chatting with the staff as well as other snowed in patrons. There is not one negative thing I can say about the Akron Double Tree by Hilton. We would definitely go back if the need arrived to be in Akron.

Visiting familyPosted Jan 2, 2014
I have always found the Doubletree chain very predictable. From start to end everyone did a great job and the room was in very good shape. The surprising part was the hotel restaurant. We took 11 children ranging in age is from 4 to 16 and 8 adults to dinner there and it was absolutely delicious they handled our group of 19 almost flawlessly. I say I'm almost flawlessly, because there was a problem with one meal. With that many people and the children sitting at 1 end and all the adults at the other end, you can imagine the chaos for the server particularly since we had separate checks for each family and the families were not all sitting together. When we alerted the server to the mistake he checked with his manager and actually provided that that single meal for free no arguments no haggling we were very impressed with that.

convenient locationPosted Dec 31, 2013 on Hotels.com
We had several activities scheduled in various parts of Akron. This hotel was within 20 minutes of even the most remote. The room and bed were a welcome respite. The restaurant was crowded and noisy--more bar-like than fine dining, but adequate for a quick meal on an over-scheduled day. I will book this location again.
