"Amazing people"
More than the hotel the service was amazing. Our family has a great memory of the people at Tulum. The hotel was great as well. The beach was rocky in some spots but it was beautiful to walk by the beach and the pools were great. The activities by the pool such as the entertainment and the salsa dance and the water aerobics with the entertaining crew was amazing. The eterntainment team (Israel, Ricardo, Sergio, Alexis...etc) at Tulum were the best. Our family loved them and they made our stay enjoyable. The servers at the buffet were also great. The morning and lunch crew (Imelda and Pedro) and the evening crew (Hipolito, Alex, and Griselda) were amazing. Generro was also warm and caring for each of us at the buffet by the pool. I would definitely go back.

"Lovely resort, friendly & helpful staff"
Really enjoyed our stay at this resort. Very expansive grounds with lots of walking required, (you can take the tram, but the tram frequency varies between lobbies/villas, and it can be quite a wait at times) the walkways and boardwalks are well maintained and make for pleasant strolls. The beach is long with lots of lounge chairs, and although there is a rocky entry to the water, the swimming is great, and you can snorkel right off of the beach along some good coral structure. The food was good, but the highlight was the unlimited a la carte access, with reservations required at only two of the many restaurants. The most we waited to get in to one of the restaurants was 1 hour, but they gave us a beeper and we went to the lobby bar for drinks until the beeper went off. Some shopping available within resort, gift shops and the like. They have a nightly market at each lobby with local artisans and the usual kitschy souvenir fare. The resort is working hard to be environmentally conscious, and they take their turtle protection seriously, which is great. Exchanging money at the front desk is pretty hit or miss, so if you are a tipper, take lots of small bills with you, though sometimes the bartenders with break larger bills for you if you ask nicely.

"Large hotel with lots to do"
Most restaurants were great. Rodizio was not very good, meat was cheaper cuts of meat. Hotel is very large so lots of walking but worth it. Rooms were clean and well air conditioned. I have stayed at other places along the Riviera Maya and Grand Palladium Colonial was one I might stay at again. I would recommend the Colonial or White Sands because they are in the middle of the resort so closer to everything. The Salt Water pool was nice for my teenagers to practice snorkeling but only used for an hour the whole trip. We ended up snorkeling along the beach instead. I loved that vendors were all over the resort for shopping. The beach was nice and we could snorkel in it seeing lots of fish. Drinks were great and staff was amazing.

"Great place to relax and unwind."
My son & I just returned from 4 days at the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya. Although this is a very large resort complex, getting from one location to another is not that intimidating, especially if you take the short cuts. The best advice I can give is to get to know your concierges. Unlike other resorts, they have 2 concierges at a station that serves every 2 buildings. They are there to maximize your experience, and they can save you a lot of time, and provide you with a more personal level of service that overcomes the shear size of a large resort.

"Perfect Hotel, Beach, Food and Service"
We Loved the quiet atmosphere within the Oasis Tulum Hotel. Everyone was courteous. The buffet was wonderful (large selection) fresh fruit. The servers were great, someone was always there to provide you drinks. The rooms were clean (great air conditioning) and the cleaning staff was very professional. Our room was a standard room garden view. The beach was beautiful, better than some of the other hotels (did not have sand bag wave stops) perfect for snorkeling (lots of fish). You could take long walks in either direction along the beach. The hotel is close to the Tulum ruins, Coba, Akumal and The Playa del Carmen - you could take a bike from the hotel to the main road and catch a local bus. We will be back and would recommend this hotel to all.

"Excellent resort. Dramatic modern architecture."
This resort does not come with an outstanding beach. But there are not a lot of excellent beaches along the Riviera Maya. If an amazing beach is what you are looking for then you may be better off picking a resort in the Dom Rep, like Punta Cana. The drinks at this resort were not as good as the ones we've had elsewhere. If you asked for a better tequila for your drink then the bar tender would pull out a bottle with a better label (but still not top shelf), yet even then the drinks were not excellent. Sadly, sometimes the drinks were just plain bad. But that is not what we came for. This place is spectacular, the service very good, the food in the restaurants and the buffet were much better than average for a resort of this size. The pools beautiful, the entertainment very good. We had a rental car and used the resort as home base for tours of the local ruins, the cenotes, Playa del Carmen, the theme parks (excellent quality by the way). It was a very elegant and inspiring place to return to after a day's activities elsewhere.

Pocket Guide: Akumal, Riviera Maya Family Hotels

Snorkeling and diving are popular in the small resort town of Akumal, and at Kantenah beach to the north, where the coastline runs parallel to a protected coral reef. In the summer months, sea turtles crawl onto the white-sand beaches by moonlight to lay their eggs. Yal-Ku Lagoon, once a trading route for the ancient Maya, is a bird watcher’s paradise, and can be explored by foot or kayak.
