GrossPosted Jul 25, 2015
Some Rome are being fixed up and there was construction going on but they put me in a nasty room. The carpets, ceilings and furniture were stained. The room smelled horrible of cig smoke. The wall paper was Peeling off and there was popcorn ceiling above the shower that was moldy and falling off. Just nasty overall.

Good staff, tired hotelPosted Jul 23, 2015
This hotel is clean and the staff seemed hard-working and one staff member was very helpful. The hotel sits in an area that might be a failed business park or something and the outside and grounds look sort of pre-abandoned. The inside is clean but very dark and dated..not really a problem but not a plus. The hotel web site indicated a pet deposit of $100 but no fee was mentioned. Turned out to be a $25 fee on top of a $100 room for a hotel that was clean but otherwise marginal. There was not an inch of grass that could pass as a pet area.

check for constructionPosted Jul 23, 2015
Pros: Desk clerk was as helpful as possible
Cons: See above.
On checking in, desk clerk asked if I booked online (which I did), and he told me they were doing construction. This isn't mentioned when you book online. The first room they gave me had no air-conditioning so they switched me to another room. When I called for room service, the hot key didn't connect to the restaurant. I tried the number on the brochure, again with no answer. I went downstairs and ordered, called the number while standing there and it didn't ring in the restaurant. Turns out the number listed was wrong and the number the front desk gave me was also wrong. "Room service" was delivered in styrofoam containers in a paper bag. The food was good however, but no ketchup for the fries.

In our first room, the phone did not work and the a/c was very loud. After requesting another room, it was just fine. The ice machine did not work either. The motel is going through an update/transition but that should have been specified.

Older hotel but remodelingPosted Jul 14, 2015
Pros: Closeness to railroad depot and the downtown area
Cons: The air conditioning was not working properly, the wifi is not sufficient to service all the customers, and the TV remote did not work properly.
Location: The Rio Grande Scenic Railroad was nearby and a lot of interesting looking shops but most of the shops were closed for the day by 7pm.
When we arrived at the check in desk, the clerks were very polite and helpful. Even when we requested another room because the air conditioning was not working proper, the clerk was still pleasant and helpful. The Wifi was not sufficient for the hotel customers to use. I could not log on in my room but in the lobby you could log on after a long wait. The price I paid for room was not worth it.

Possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayedPosted Jul 13, 2015
Nothing works including AC in two rooms we were in. No ice machine. Dirty showers. Just aweful. Sleep on ground at sand dunes, much nicer.

Great place close to Great SanddunesPosted Jul 9, 2015
Staff were helpful. Fixed an error made by Expedia that they didn't have to fix. Room was clean, but tired. They're remodeling now. Hotel has a lot of potential. We enjoyed our stay.

Unprofessional & Dishonest StaffPosted Jun 22, 2015
Our room had no air conditioning. When we went to the front desk to ask for a different room they said "in-house electricians" were working on it and to set the air at 75 & leave it for 30-45 min.. We went to dinner & still no a/c. They said they had no available rooms for us to switch to & no fans -- they had been given out a few days ago. A few DAYS ago? The hotel wifi & phones didn't work either. They couldn't refund us since we booked online. We expect honesty & professionalism from businesses we deal with. This was definitely not the case here. The hotel getting their money was much more important to them than the families staying there.

Overall good experiencePosted Jun 16, 2015
Pros: Location, staff, privacy, restaurant, bar,
Cons: air conditioning could be cooler, ice machine upgrade, longer cord for Ethernet to reach desk.
Location: I was there for schoold at ASU, so I didn't venture out, I enjoyed having a place to do my studies and easily get back to campus within 8 minutes.
The staff were excellent at meeting my needs. Restaurant was convenient at the end of the day, had a refrigerator in room without the need of a request. The bed was very comfortable. The internet was fast and efficient. The only draw back I saw was the air conditioning was not strong enough, the room felt very warm and had to leave the window open at night on the first floor, the Ethernet cord was not long enough to use my computer at the desk provided and the ice machine was not always available with ice, it seemed a little tired. I feel these are all small things that could be worked with. It was clean, big enough to meet my needs and allowed my the space I needed for a week stay. Big thanks to the staff, they are the ones that made it the most recommended for me to come back and stay there again. Thanks, Didi
