“Hotel for Union College Parents Visits”

Went to visit Union College with my son. After reading the recommendations on expedia.com, I was leary that this place would be a run down old hotel. Quite the opposite, it is a "newer" hotel with a good resturant and bar area. The workout room could be expanded but it was nice enough and all machines were working

“really nice place”

i've read some negative reviews of this place but when someone complains about little things i tend to discount them so i went there because of the price. the service was excellent and very friendly, the room clean and comfortable and the people in the restaurant were warm and nice. I really couldn't expect any thing better

“Great Experience”

One of the nicest hotels at which we've stayed. The staff was delightful and very helpful. Rooms were very large and clean. It was a great experience.

“Pleasantly Surprised”

When we told family in the area where we were staying they frowned. Schenectady is not the city it used to be, not unsafe, but old. From the bubbly welcome at registration and throughout our 4 night stay the staff was friendly and very accommodating. The pool, spa, exercise and lobbyareas are nice and clean.The hotel restaurant is fine for breakfast but dinner is fair at best I would stay here again.

“Good place to stay!”

The hotel was convenient, comfortable, and affordable. The layout is confusing at first because the wall signs are inaccurate [left over from a long time ago, perhaps]. Some of the services were not as well maintained as they could be--like printer ink and paper in the business office or the supply of towels by the pool--but the front desk staff are very friendly and do the best they can to help out. The overall feeling is pleasant, and we would definitely stay here again!

The Schenetady Holiday Inn has good rooms and overall facilities. It is in the downtown area which gives you a good location.

“Good hotel if you are visiting Union College”

Generally quite satisfied.Reception very helpful with directions, etc. Staff seems quite anxious to please. Large building with swimming pool in atrium. Decor is a bit severe. Hall carpets could use a cleaning, but rooms quite neat and clean. HD flat panel TV system annoyingly goes through a long pitch to sell movies before you finally get to the normal free cable channels. A bit pricey for a middle sized non-resort town hotel, but we could easily walk to the Union College campus where we visited a grandson.

I was disappointed that I paid the same price for 2 rooms, one did not have a microwave & fridge...also asked for joining rooms and was told it was not available...however , there was an access door in one of the rooms ?

“Clean rooms, limited staff availability”

Rooms and facility are very nice. Business was slow when we were there. Restaurant had limited hours and when we left some luggage in the room, there was no extra staff on duty at 6pm who could check to see if bag was still in room.
