Stay there once a year - always good

Posted Sep 9, 2014
Pros: Staff is excellent, bed is very comfortable, room has all the amenities and is arranged well. Good for what I want.
Cons: Use better quality paper plates at bkfst., place salt & pepper shakers on each table, or make small packets available.
The staff is especially helpful and personable. Breakfasts are surprisingly good and extensive. Bed was super comfortable. The room has all of the amenities: desk & office chair, extra table, room for suitcases, microwave & coffee maker, tv, radio alarm (which actually works!). I come to Albany at least once a year, sometimes twice, and always stay at the Ramada Plaza. It's excellent value for the price. Although it's extremely easy to get to, 1/2 a block from the interstate, it's off the beaten track, and the surrounding neighborhood is not the best, apparently accounting for its low rates. Highly recommended.

Pros: the pool area was great, the breakfast was very good also
Cons: attentiveness by employees
overall experience was very disappointing, room was suppose to be ready at 3:00, attendant had to check at 4:30 to see if it was ready. Flowers were being delivered and were instructed to be set up as a surprise in the room....they were left at the front desk since 9:33, I was told we didnt know which room you would be in. Flowers were in a box and when put in a vase they looked horrible, all brown on the edges.

Extremely Disappointed

Posted Sep 5, 2014
Pros: The people at the front desk tried to be very accommodating, but they said there were no other rooms.
Cons: The rooms and back of the hotel.
Location: Albany is an amazing city with lots to do.
The room we were given was a not a room in the main hotel. It was in the back with no elevator access, and smelled of cigarette smoke, even though it was supposed to be non-smoking. They exchanged the room to one on the second floor, where the Air conditioning was turned off (in the summer) and the room had a musty smell. Apparently the windows were kept open because they would not remain closed or locked. The front desk then switched us to a third room, which was better than the other two but still dark and dingy. We went out to dinner and came back to find various laundry trolleys with linen strayed in the hallway in front of our room. The pictures placed on expedia and their website only show the main building of the hotel which was nice, but we were not given a room there. I have to say I was not only extremely disappointed with the hotel, also embarrassed as I made the hotel reservation for my sister and I. I have always used Expedia for my travels and this is the first time I ever had this experience.

Look elsewhere

Pros: The breakfast was pretty good.
Cons: Housekeeping
Location: Hard place to find. Nothing near by.
Hard to locate from road. Parking lot not very well lit. Turned down the bed and discovered hair strands everywhere and a few stains. Changed rooms as it was late or would have left. Limited ice machines and the one close to me was broken.

Good value hotel. Clean with friendly staff.

Pros: Hot buffet breakfast, friendly staff, Nice, comfortable beds, free Wi-Fi, Widescreen TV with cable, room fridge, microwave.
Cons: Interior design of lobby and restaurants. Nicer landscaping out front. Better brands of shampoo and conditioner.
Location: Visited Albany and Saratoga Springs.
My stay at Ramada along Watervliet drive was pleasant. My family and I slept well on these clean, plush ,comfortable beds. The bathroom was clean. There was a fridge and microwave, and provided bathroom essentials. The staff was friendly. They served a complimentary hot buffet breakfast which was excellent. The floor our room was at had a faint smell of cigarettes. From my experience with other chain hotels before, I would always bring a cheap little air purifier with a carbon filter that would make the room smell fresher and this was one of them. Not long after we first arrived, the corridor smelled fresher not long after through the efforts of the friendly house keeping staff. Overall, it is a hotel I would stay at again. The hotels needs an updated interior design job on its lobby and floors.. A nicer landscaping out front will make it more pleasant. I was not expecting a boutique hotel for the price I paid for. But it is always good business sense to try to make the facilities look more stylish and contemporary at some point to entice customers.
