“Great Stay”

Desk staff was friendly and efficient, room nice and quiet and comfortable, close to casino (Sandia will provide a free shuttle both ways. Call the transporation department for a pick up, shuttle returns to the hotel every hour on the hour), fair to good breakfast buffet (standard faire).

“Balloon Fiesta 2011”

Super friendly service, nice pool, more than satisfying breakfast and evening cookies. More information available for patrons regarding getting to balloon park would be nice. Maybe coordinating with Albuquerque Tourist Information Bureau and Balloon Fiesta Assn. Overall, a very good experience.

Area recommendations
Antique stores on 4th and Central. Historic Downtown. Rio Grande Nature Center. Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. All these places we visited and enjoyed.
When to go
We visited Albuquerque the last days of September and first days of October. The weather was gorgeous. The atmosphere is dry, so drink plenty of water and keep hydrated. Sprinkles arrived the day we flew back home.
Getting around
Car rental from airport is very easy. A free shuttle is offered just outside the Albuquerque International Sunport doors. A short drive brings you to a super car rental center. Returning the car is easy, too. Albuquerque International Sunport is south of Downtown. Important: Stop by the Sunport Visitors Information booth for a good map. The map we got from Advantage car rental was insufficient. Albuquerque has the Rio Grande River running from the north to the south of town. Some sites are East of the River, other sites are West of the River. Not all streets cross the river from east to west, so having a map is essential. The major freeways are the 25 from north to south and the 40 from east to west.
Must see
Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta in October. Awesome. 2011 the cost to enter was only $6 for adults. $10 for parking. The Balloon Fiesta park is north of Downtown Albuqueque. Inside there is the "Main Street" of food stalls and shops. This part of the Fiesta is like a County Fair. They also have a Balloon Museum and very nice and free Discovery Center. Golf cart shuttles are available for those who need it especially from the parking lots to park. Around Albuquerque, shuttle bus service is offered. Get a good map to locate the shuttle bus pick up sites. Traffic during the opening day is brutal. Get there two hours in advance or come in on a shuttle bus. We bought tickets for the Gondola Club which offers special parking. Unfortunately, opening day we didn't follow the Gondola Club directions to the park and got stuck in the traffice for about an hour and a half. Bring a hat and sunscreen. Drink plenty of water.
Shopping
Central and 4th streets for antiques and flea market finds. Antique Specialty Mall, a beautiful store, is at 4516 Central SE. Here we picked up brochures on more than 30 antique stores in Albuquerque. During Balloon Fiesta days, the Rio Grande Arts and Crafts show arrives and it is a must see. They charge to get in, but the artisans there are fabulous. Go see even if you don't buy.
Dining
El Pinto Restaurant and Moreno's Restaurant were great for New Mexican food, especially Sopaipillas. Sopaipillas are a Mexican dish of flour, puffed pastry that can be eaten with honey or chile sauce. Some restaurants offer them filled like a burrito.
Family-friendly activities
World Balloons for a ride in a Hot Air Balloon. This was fun and easy to do. The crew was great. Their experience, knowledge, and professionalism (with a little humor) puts customers at ease and feeling safe and secure. The Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta in October is family-friendly and a must see.

“Good Hotel by the Interstate”

Conveniently located by the Interstate. My only concern was that when I drove up at 11 pm, there were some young men loitering and smoking in front of the hotel.

“Comfortable and clean, good price”

Hampton Inn, Albuquerque North was fine other than I'd never seen a Hampton Inn with outside entry. I'm not really impressed with outside entry places, reminds me of a really cheap motel. The room was large and clean and very quiet - the most important things. The free breakfast was substantial. All in all, a decent hotel for a night.

Shopping
Don;t miss the ABQ Mall - fantastic - every store you can imagine.

“Great stay”

We were definitely impressed with the hotel for our 3-night stay. The room was nice and clean and the bed was comfortable. The people at the desk were friendly and helpful. The price was reasonable. And, the breakfast buffet was wonderful. We've never seen a self-serve waffle iron at a facility like this! All fresh and very tasty. Everything from Cheerios to waffles. We will definitely be back for our next visit to the Duke City.

You must visit Sandia Crest for a magnificent view of the whole area.

“Clean and comfortable”

Extremely clean and well-maintained. Convenient location off I-25. Restaurants and shopping nearby. I recommend Whole Foods deli on Wyoming. My room was so comfortable, I bought goodies from the deli and had dinner at the hotel. Friendly staff. I make frequent trips to Albuquerque, and will ALWAYS choose this hotel.

“one of Albuquerque's best for the price”

Comfortable room; extremely quiet; a sense of security and easy on/off the freeway. Breakfast ample; good attention by staff to cleaning tables, greeting guests and seeing that breakfast items were stocked. Generally a sense that the staff were happy to be there and liked their jobs.

Area recommendations
Northeast foothills along Tramway between Montgomery and Paseo del Norte. To my knowledge, there are no hotels in that area, though I would certainly prefer to stay there.
Dining
In the Northeast foothills there are two Flying Star restaurants. For casual dining, they are excellent.
