“Excellent”
Reacommend it highly
“Neither here nor there”
The Hotel Blue is friendly and clean, but stay there only if you have a car. It's about halfway between the University and Old Town, and about 4 blocks from downtown and the Convention Center. The city bus does stop a couple blocks away from the hotel. The hotel offers a free shuttle to the airport, though.
“Albuquerque on the cheap”
Hotel Blue has comfortable beds, and is a good deal for where it is, even if the neighborhood surrounding it is a bit, well, sketchy. But the staff was friendly, we didn't have any problems, and it was great to have complimentary breakfast and parking right on-site. For those hoping for long, casual, walks however - this is not that neighborhood. Good for business, good for the young, but not a hot spot for romance in other words. On the latter, see H. Andaluz instead.
“Mixed reactions”
Although the location was not ideal, the room was clean and comfortable. The hotel shuttle was WONDERFUL..taking me, without charge, to the convention center and airport. The people were hotel staff were helpful and polite. The inside of the room was better than the outside by far. I would stay there again, given the room, the shuttle, the breakfast and lobby cookies.
“Skid Row Hotel”
Dirty hallways, stained carpet, smelly rooms. The worst part was the drunken parties from two separate rooms around us. There were staggering drunk people on the balcony in the middle of the night! They even fought with security at 430 am. And the desk staff could care less. This place is like a really low class dorm room or a low security work release. Stay away!!
“Good value for money”
This hotel provides everything one needs for a comfortable stay for several days. I was surprised by the basket of toiletries. The electric fire place is a nice touch to make one feel more relaexed. The staff were pleasnat and helpful. For the economical traveler this is a "good value".
“Disappointing!”
Knobs missing or falling off furniture. TV didn't work until maintenance came up to fix it. Key lock wouldn't open after numerous tries. Maintenance tried two master keys which also didn't work. Exterior of room doors desperately needed paint. On the up side...the bed was very comfortable. Hotel clerks were friendly and helpful.
“not again”
I learnt my first lesson that do not book a room in a non name brand hotel unless someone you know has stayed there and given a good feedback. I checked in the hotel got the key checked the room out and then called a brand name hotel and made a booking for the 3 nights forefitting the room at hotel Blue. Its not even worth mentioning anything.
“Great with one exception”
The only real downside to this hotel is the parking - or lack there of. I wasn't driving - thank you baby Jesus, but the 'parking garage' is the smallest sketchy-ist looking thing I've ever seen. I went for the Balloon Fiesta - so any other time, I would assume parking wouldn't be much of an issue.
“On Route 66 in Albuquerque”
Quaint old style motel (not hotel) on the famous Route 66. We were there for Balloon Fiesta, and one morning the balloons floated right by the hotel. However the location is good news/bad news. The rooms are tiny and run down. The satelllite TV was down for most of our stay. The worst part was the noise! We got no sleep on Saturday night because the locals "drag the gut" in cars and motorcycles (squeeling tires and backfiring) until the wee hours of the morning. The staff is not the least bit sympathetic about it. We would not go back there!
