Under renovation, great deal, terrific staff

Posted Apr 12, 2015
Pros: The staff! The free breakfast was pretty good. The value.
Cons: They are renovating so this list could get long, but I assume they are working on it.
Location: It is very near Lovelace Hospital (ask for the medical rate). Hard to get back on the freeway. Nothing within walking distance.
This hotel has gone through a few owners since it was Howard Johnsons and now it is back, but the previous owner clearly did not keep the place up. Howard Johnsons is in the process of renovation, so our room had some minor issues but was clean. While we were there the pool was not open, but I heard that it was opened the day we were leaving. Free internet, but it was spotty and slow. The price we paid (for 3 days via Expedia) was only $43 per night. Other members of our family stayed at $49. The restaurant has not reopened yet. The staff went out of their way more than once to help us. Bottom Line: Well worth the price I paid.

I got a good rest in a clean comfortable bed and had a nice hot strong shower in the morning. I would stay again!

Horrible!

Posted Apr 9, 2015
Pros: Staff
Cons: Facility and update area.
Location: Close to downtown but not much going on in this area.
Very disappointed as I drove in. It was previously the Plaza Inn and the signs are still up. Looked deserted, I know why. Bad area and didn't feel comfortable at night. Very old facility and outdated. Staff was the only good thing and the breakfast was decent too. Bed was comfortable and sheets clean but still worried about bed bugs. Lot of foot traffic in the hallways at night and the light shined under the door making it hard to sleep comfortably.

Nice and comfortable. Good firm bed. Could use an upgrade to better TV.

Easy access.

Pros: Free breakfast. Great to be able to go downstairs and get a delicious FULL breakfast and bring it back to my room and eat while watching news.
Cons: Cleanliness of room. The carpets need a good cleaning and ceilings above the beds need to be swept. Balcony needs a serious cleaning.
Location: Easy access to freeways in either direction. Food and activities all nearby.
Checked in late, no problem, had to change rooms, no problem - hotel assistant was kind and ready to see that I received desired accommodations. Staff were really friendly. Family oriented hotel, recently taken over by Howard Johnson management.

First room not great, second one just right!

Posted Apr 6, 2015
Cons: Carpets are a bit haggard, but facilities are fine.
Location: Convenient to UNM and medical center, car dealerships and some restaurants.
The first room that I was in had quite a few little things that weren't great: the TV turned on in the middle of the night (no remote, I wondered if maybe it got put in the adjacent room by accident), the hairdryer didn't work, and the water spigot flew off when I went to take a shower. However, the staff was extremely gracious and prompt in switching me rooms in the morning, and the second room was just fine.

HowardA Johnson, Albuquerque

Pros: Not much
Location: no restaurants nearby
The hotel had just been purchased from Plaza Inn. No signage at main entrance. Very small rooms. Breakfast sketchy. Not our favorite stay on this trip.

Excellent but pool was not available and they promised it will be ready and it wasn't... Don't lie to customers
