Great staff. Stayed during graduation weekend, so was busy but staff was still very attentive and accommodating. Ice machine was down however the front desk kept bags of ice for the tenants.

2/5 don't recommend

Pros: None
Cons: Not near food or shops
Location: Poor
Would not allow checkin on Saturday till 3PM long line waiting for rooms. 3rd floor room below average in cleanliness. Filthy under bed, needing vacuuming and mold in bathroom (shower curtains).

Sub par...especially for the price.

Pros: Bed was comfortable
Cons: Floors were not vacuumed
Location: Close to freeway, close to university and hospital; but you have to drive if you are looking to shop, eat, or do some sight seeing.
While I'm okay with old or outdated hotels, I expect hotels to be clean. The carpet in my room was not vacuumed and this was obvious because of lint, strings, hair and other visible elements on the floor. General upkeep wasn't the greatest either. The pictures look much better than the real thing. The free breakfast I cannot comment on except to say that the dining area is extremely small. When I walked down to breakfast the room was packed with people. The few tables were taken and people were standing to eat. It was so congested that I opted out of breakfast This place is okay if you just need a place to sleep that is close to the freeway, but don't be expecting a nice hotel. I'm no snob, but I haven't stayed at a place like this since I was a poor college student with little travel experience. There are definitely nicer hotels for the price.

It is an older motel ear the UNM medical center.

Pros: Price and location.
Cons: Try to find a tenant for the restaurant.
Location: Near medical facilities.
I have stayed at the Plaza Inn in the past when my wife was in the UNM hospital. I was sorry to find out that the J.B.'s restaurant was now closed. It was very handy with a good senior menu. The motel has an adequate breakfast, but not much seating.

Don't waste your time.

I booked this hotel because of the reviews on expdia and almost turned around an left before checking in. The pictures that were on the internet must have been taken years ago. The hotel is dated and in some serious need of renovation. We had to ask for a different room at 10 PM when it was discovered that when you flush the toilet it drained onto the floor. The second room wasn't any better, the toilet just wouldn't flush anything down. I would recommend spending a little more and going elsewhere.

Don't stay here...

The lobby and elevator were dirty. The rooms are very close together and you can hear through the walls. Parking spaces are very small. The sheets needed bleached - they were grey.

It was a little confusing to get to from Interstate 40 but ok. The breakfast bar was good.

Good for families, bad for business travelers

The hotel room was lacking in power outlets; I only counted three outlets. The main room outlets were already in use and not easily accessible. I had to hunt for places to plug in. The wifi signal was also very spotty. Also, the TV was broken and even after bringing this up to them multiple times, they still had not fixed in the 5 days I was there.

Not a three star....
Posted Jan 9, 2013
I booked this as an Expedia Mystery Special. It said the Hotel was 3 stars. A three star hotel according to Expedia is a Hilton Garden Inn or Holiday Inn Express. Well this is not comparable to any of them. The Plaza Inn is more like a Super 8 or Econolodge. It's more of a 1 star. The hotel lobby smelt of fried chicken and cigarette smoke when I arrived to check-in. The carpets and decor all showed signs of wear and stains. My room was clean, but that was about it. The furnishing all had signs of wear, the desk had a couple of burns on it. My sheets were certainly not new - no stains, but they weren't crisp and were yellowing from age. The towels were pretty thin and small. Overall, if you are looking for a three star, this is not for you. If you want a couple of more facilities than your average Super 8/Econolodge, this might work for you.

I wouldn't stay again if it was free!
Posted Jan 7, 2013
Pros: Nothing
Cons: The overall disrepair of the entire building
Location: See my review above.
This hotel is falling apart and is very badly kept. Our room was ok which mattered most. I wouldn't call this a roach motel but it was bad. Expedia had rated this a 3.5 star hotel so I was expecting a lot nice place than what we got. Breakfast was biscuits and gravy and was good but it was very small portions and the rest of the breakfast selection was terrible. They had one kind of cold cereal, Fruit Loops. The cereal had no flavor and tasted more like a wheat cereal than a kids cereal. YUCK! They were very unorganized and took almost two hours and 3 phone calls to get more towels brought up to our room so we could shower. The towels were tiny and very scratchy on your skin. I wouldn't stay there again even if it was free! Oh and one of the employees went outside the door to smoke but he stood next to the door with a strong wind blowing into the lobby. The entire bottom floor ended up reeking of cigarette smoke, which is very offensive to some and bad for asthma. We mentioned it to the employee and he just ignored us! That was horrible service if you ask me. Oh and the actual rooms are no where near as nice as what is pictured on the website. The pool had peeling paint, the bathroom had no trash can to throw paper towels after washing your hands and the only ice machine in the whole building wasn't working.
