Great hotel, convenient for town centre

Posted Sep 8, 2014
Pros: Great breakfast.
Cons: Have stayed at other hotels which offer free tea & coffee, this would have been nice.
Friendly, helpful staff. We arrived very early off the ferry and the room was not ready, the receptionist offered us drinks from the breakfast buffet.

Near harbour

I cannot understand why in Norway you are expected to stack your clothes on the floor, no shelves, drawers hangers or what ever, absolutely primitive.

Best hotel for midsummer sunsets!

Posted Jul 15, 2014
Pros: Would recommend this hotel as the staff were so accommodating, and I do believe the hotel being right on the water facing NW had best sunset views
Cons: Room temperature control
Location: Tourist information were very helpful and trip to Geiranger was amazing. We hired bikes from 62 Nord and cycled around the area.
Had a room on top floor facing the town on the first night, which was noisy (there was a boat festival going on), and the sloping roof caused a couple of bumped heads, so we asked to move. The second room (on 2nd floor) was great, with a bit of sea view. We were very lucky with the weather, but this led to the rooms being hot even with window wide open. There is no a/c (I guess not normally required) and you can't turn the underfloor heating in the bathroom off. The staff were always very helpful, and breakfasts had a huge range and were good (but please more bacon!!). We ate once in the evening there - a "small" meal of a burger which was huge and delicious. Fresh bread came with it, with slightly curried butter - what a great idea! Airport shuttle service was quick and efficient - we were amazed we only needed to leave the hotel and hour before the flight actually departed. It's a 15 min drive to airport, and check in is very quick and easy - being such a nice small airport. Wifi in the hotel wasn't working in all the rooms whilst we were there, but worked well in the lobby. Free tea and coffee all day to guests was also a welcome treat. The coffee was good too.

disapointing

Posted Jul 8, 2014 on Hotels.com
for a radisson hotel this one was disapointing. pros- exellent customer service, reasonable transfer rates, great breakfast. cons- room is outdated, aircon not working, 5 nordic channels and 1 bbc news on telly and NO wifi as stated!! there is a log in, but the connection is BAD and you can not use it for working at all... such things should be in order for the prices you pay in norway!

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. I am happy for the nice comments on our location our breakfast, the customer service and the convenient airportshuttle. We are of course well aware that for some we might seem a bit outdated in our room decor at the moment. I am happy to tell you that we are planning our refurbishment, all rooms will in the near future be upgraded. We do take much pride in the cleanliness of our rooms, and in keeping our rooms well maintained. We do get a lot of good feedback actually on our rooms beeing very clean, and we will try and get even better at this. About the internet not working properly during your stay, we unfortunately had a router down and this affected some of our rooms. We do take theese matters very seriously. The router will be replaced july 15 th. and after that our wi-fi is fully functioning in all rooms as usual. Well suitable for working. We cincerely apologize for this event occuring during your stay, and maybe we can make this right for you if you come back in the future. Have a great summer, and again thank you for your feedback. I am glad you enjoyed the beauty of Ålesund city and the friendly people, and we thank you for this compliment ! Best regards Britt

Great value in city centre.

Reasonably sized room. Comfortable. Could have darker curtains (needed with midnight sun). Friendly staff. Nice location. Have nice quick breakfast for those leaving very early.

Great location, amazing breakfast!

Posted Jun 11, 2014 on Hotels.com
The incredible breakfast buffet was definitely a highlight of our stay, a great way to sample Norwegian cuisine and more! The location was great, too, right in the center of the city. While the hotel has limited parking available at a lot nearby, we found it a much better deal to park on the street. The metered parking spots are 15 NOK per hour, but free after 4 or 5pm and on Sundays.

Great hotel - good location - good breakfast - nice room. What's not to like. Only downside is parking (pricey) - should be free to hotel guests. Our overnight rate was very good as it was the weekend.

Don't visit on a church holiday!

Posted Jun 7, 2014
Pros: Pleasant receptionist. Convenient situation.
Cons: Hotel services.
Location: Aalesund is a fascinating town for anyone intetested in Art Nouveau with a wonderful museum and beautiful houses.
We arrived tired and hungry having been travelling all day only to be told that the hotel restaurant was closed because it was Ascension Day! Room service was also unavailable as the kitchen was closed for the same reason. We asked the very pleasant receptionist for advice on where to eat only to be told that most of the restaurants/cafes in Aalesund were closed too. We did eventually find somewhere that was serving meals but only after a lot of searching. We had no adbance warning despite the fact that we had booked our room several months before our intended visit. One does not expect this lack of service from a four star hotel. Future travellers should be aware that there is also a large building site beside the hotel.
