“Great Hotel. Would definitely stay there again”

I was looking for a hotel that was at least a 2 room suite so we could have a seperate bedroom then our kids. After much serching in the Alexandria/Washington DC area, I came across the Wyndham. We had stayed in Old Town Alexandria many years ago and really liked it. It was also a little more reasonable then the hotels in DC. Everything about the hotel sounded great and we were across the street from the Metro, which we used to get back and forth to DC. Check in was a breeze, and there is underground parking. The room was very nice with a fully stocked kitchen (frig, regular size stove/over, microwave and a full size dishwasher. The bathroom was very nice with a full jacuzzu in the adjoining room/bedroom. The living area had a dining table that seated 6-8, a sleeper couch and 2 chairs. There were 2 flat screen TV's (2nd one in the bedroom) and plenty of window light. The only thing I didn't like is that we were really far from the restaurants and shops to just walk outside and check out the area. They do have a free trolly to take you down there, but during dinner hours you have to wait, and wait for it to show up (there is no schedule) and sometimes, and when it does, it might just passes you by because it's too full so either you have to walk (after you've spend 8 hours walking around DC or you can drive and try to find parking). We did both. There are some really good restaurants in Old Town and the warf is a nice place to just sit. All in all, we had a great time.

“Surprise! It's a timeshare”

When I made my reservation, this property was included among the hotels in Old Town Alexandria. When I arrived, it was a timeshare. I tried to check in an hour early, but my unit wasn’t available. Staff provided a temporary garage pass. For that, I had to endure a little pressure from a second staff person, who wanted to schedule me for an hour-long sales pitch. Pluses: location (near restaurants, shops, Metro, and the more expensive hotel hosting the conference I was attending); spacious; recently redecorated living area and bedroom; kitchen; garage. Downsides: a very hard mattress; outdated bathroom; broken iron; overwhelming smell of popcorn for the first day; no daily housekeeping (it’s a timeshare.) Price depending, I’d stay here again, especially if my family were with me. The unit was larger than many one-bedroom condos in the area. But, if you’re expecting a hotel, you’ll be disappointed in the level and professionalism of the staff.

“Not a hotel”

Surprised that it wasn't a hotel. In fact, it was a timeshare and we received calls bothering us to buy within their chain. Maid service was non-existent, we even had to dump our own garbage.
