Great for this pricePosted Jul 12, 2013
Pros: pool area
Cons: noisy beds
Location: beautiful if you like the middle of nowhere, quite places
If you choose this 3* apartment hotel, you are able to use the hotel Alfamar 4* facilities. Which is great! Lovely, family friendly, safe hotel on the beach with pool sauna and jacuzi and great staff. we spend 8 days there and realized most of the guests are Portuguese....which is a good sign, local people spend they holiday in this hotel. The studio flat was ok, bit used, but that is for 3*, the cleaner came every day, the fridge was nice and clean and big enough fro good food. We had our own breakfast - local supermarket just 2 min walk and only 1 dinner in the hotel because wanted to try different reataurant every night. Because this hotel is a middle of nowhere I recommend you to rent a bike or car to go to have dinner...the closest village is 10 min by bike.....cheap to rent a bike 8-10 euro/ day. but be careful to rent a car or bike because everywhere advertising "the best price in town"....not really. do not pay more than 10 euro/day for bike and 35 euro/day for car. It was a lovely holiday.....good, healthy food, bit of exercise and lovely beach and weather.....

Get What you Pay forPosted Jul 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
You get what you pay for. It wasn't clean, but it wasn't dirty. It can be loud in the mornings when you hear your neighbors moving about and having breakfast. If you are trying to nap in the afternoon and it's time for the maids to clean the area, they are loud. It also was a non-smoking room, but smelled like my grandpa's house and cigarettes - and there was an ashtray in the room as well. It was good enough for the purposes I needed it to serve!

not impressed with self catering accommodation as presented, in need of modernisation and refurbishmPosted Oct 18, 2011
Very disappointed with accommodation. Advert on Expedia website did not match reality. Images on website show hotel and bungalows but not the high rise accommodation that was allocated to us (not suitable for the elderly because of no elevator). Decor, fittings and equipment were unacceptable: fridge rusting and drumming next to the bed, no kettle, minimal facilities for self catering, no facilities for drying towels and this is a beach resort! Complaints regarding the above misrepresentation were met by the manager two days later and we were upgraded free of charge to a bungalow as per the image of the website. Bungalow although clean was still very dated and equipment for self catering very meagre. Positive point the hotel is very near the beach the beach, in a quiet location and the room cleaning service was good.

Algarve Gardens - It was very good choicePosted Oct 7, 2010 on Hotels.com
We were in Algarve Gardens two weeks ago. Apartamen as clean and quiet. Room was cleaned every day. Most of the day we spend on the long Falesia beach. This is very good choice for peopel who want to just relax and rest. This is good value for money. I can recommend that place.

Cheap and basic, generally happy.Posted Jul 14, 2010 on Hotels.com
Stayed for 5 nights and generally happy. It really is nothing special and is very basic. The apartments sit 5 minutes walk from the main hotel which offers a few restaurants, bar pool etc. 20 minutes walk up the road is a little supermarket with other restaurants and bars. A little difficult to find if you dont know the area!

Alfamar for a quiet & relaxing holiday @ a beachPosted Jul 7, 2010 on Hotels.com
Location: Olhos de Acqua: unspoiled
Food: Not Satisfied for the most of period. Price & Quality for foodplans not in line with what it used to be. In the past there was more variaty & better quality. Now I would visit restaurants in the neighborhood where the food & drinks are 50% of hotelprices. Bungalows: We had a very nice bungalow. If you have been before @ Alfamar you know exactly for what bungalows to ask. Personell: Nice and friendly and you are not a number. Again the restaurant service was disappointing. Outside eating limited to 2-3 people, as the tables are to little, and bigger families are not allowed to put tables together. So our family of 7 ended up @ Seperate tables, or we were forced to eat inside. Period: July-August busy busy busy. Though the beach is quiet. Queing for the restaurant. April-May-June-October: great weather, nice walks, nice beach Services: Cleaners good. Facilities old but working and clean. Nice pool area. Animation: none. Terrible parrot shows, very commercial/... live music is okay, but not original. No entertainment except for a 'dancing' fitness instructor with incredible moves (not serious) Anyhow. For a relaxing holiday great! But know what to take and what to leave

can't wait to go backPosted May 29, 2009
I got impressed with the hotel complex. Love the swimming pool area and the beach entrance from the hotel. The Bungalo, where I stay was very basic- but had everything I needed for a beach holidays. Would go back any time!
