“Really great resort”

Really lovely resort with very nice swimming pools, we all had a lovely time. Our family apartment was huge and our balcony overlooked the golf course. The kids loved the pools. All in all a great holiday!

“PERFECT”

You need a car to get about from the location, its a small distance from main area's, but apart from that it really is perfect. standard of rooms was excellent and spacious. The kitchen facilities were 1st rate. Our only thoughts were "when can we come back?"

“Still fantastic”

Went to this complex 3 years ago with my 2 children and decided to return again. The place is still fantastic. All the swimming pools are manned with staff, very clean and cleaned daily. Food at all the restaurants is great and good value. 9 hole golf course in great condition. Appartment very spacious and cleaned daily and had all we needed. Reception staff very helpful from arrival to departure. Would highly recommend to all with or without chldren. The complex has been designed so well and there are rarely times when you think there are a lot of people around. There is so much space.

“Beautiful relaxing village can't wait to go back”

Very peaceful accommodation fantastic.We had a one bedroom apartment which had a balcony at the front and back with sunbeds and umbrella. We could see the pool(one of many in the complex)from the balcony. Eating out on site is expensive but food and service is good. Outside the village go left and a 10 min stroll will take you to a group of eateries and bars all very good value. Worthwhile taking the free shuttle to the old town for a mornings shopping it is lovely.There is a beach 10mins from the village go left to a petrol station take a right and walk down to a beautiful beach. Beware the cost of hiring sunbeds there however the snack bar overlokking the sea is very good value. Never felt busy in the village we could always get a sunbed a the pool and the people were charming.

“Portugals hidden secret”

The accommodation was outstanding, we were far enough from the road not hear the traffic. With only a minute walk to the mini market and a swimming pool outside the patio doors, it was the perfect location. All of the staff were very helpful except one waiter, who we chose to ignore. The reception staff went out of their way to make our stay a happy one. The apartments were very clean and well maintained. The superior rooms were large and very well equipped. The food at the resturant was very good and is highly recommended. The family enjoyed it that much they insisted we ate there on our last night. We did many activities including horse riding, Marinezoo and the jeep safari, all were great fun. This is a value for money holiday with quality accommodation and is highly recommended.

“Wonderful Family Resort”

Initially we booked a one room superior apartment but was delighted to find we were given a two bedroom apartment overlooking the golf course. The room was spotless with two large bedrooms, two bathrooms, utility room, large fully equipped kitchen, lounge and enormous balcony complete with table, chairs, recliners etc (I have honestly stayed in smaller rooms than the balcony space alone!!). My nine year old daughter was delighted to find that the TV had approx 15 English language channels including BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Sky Family Movies. There was always plenty of space to enjoy pool areas of which I counted at least 4 outside pools and found that most guests were from Holland and Germany which suited us fine. The onsite supermarket was quite expensive especially when only getting 1.07 Euro to the £. However there is a nearby Intermarche that has more choice and cheaper alternative. I would recommend a car which I deem essential and most evenings we drove the short distance to Oura for our evening meals however there are quieter dining choices nearer. I would fully recommend Balia as a family friendly resort that is clean, well maintained and well worthy of a repeat visit in near future.

“Better than expected”

This hotel was better than expected after reading other reviews. We arrived by train from Lisbon, arriving at the Albuferia Station. We had to wait for about 30 minutes for a taxi which took us to the hotel. It was about a 15 minute cab ride. The grounds of the hotel are lovely, and the 2 bedroom apartment we rented was very spacious. We were directly across from the pool area, a short walk to the small plaza with a very nice grocery store. It was also a short walk to the restarant (we had very good lunches and an excellent dinner for a reasonable price). The hotel is not as close to the beach as it appears, and the walk is down a gravel type road which is steep. The beach is picturesque and a very good bar there. They also serve food. We did have a minor problem with the internet--after purchasing time the connection was lost and even after changing computers, still no connection all the while the time was running off and the hotel desk clerk said sorry, but no refund. It was only 5 euro, but I felt it should have been refunded. We also paid for bus service to pick us up and take us to the airport. We waited and finally after going to the office, they called a cab and we gave him our voucher which the hotel was going to reimburse him. It is over a 40 minute cab ride and we were on time for our flight, but we did not have time to shop for souvenirs because we were waiting about an extra half hour to be picked up at the hotel. The airport food is expensive, and few choices.

“fantastic holiday ...should have booked for longer”

really enjoyed the holiday, really relaxing...and with 3 children under 7 that's saying something. Really family focused resort, nothing too much trouble. Our only thoughts on how to improve would be that it would be nice if there was a little entertainment provided for the children at night.

“Great Beginners Golf Holiday”

The Hotel has good sized kitchen and large lounge plus good sized bed room. Service people are very polite and pleasant. We enjoyed its golf course as golf beginners very much.
