Very good to stay here at least out of seasonPosted Dec 7, 2013
Pros: Quiet, well looked after and very close to the sea. For those wishing to self cater everything required was in the room inc fridge and cooker
Cons: I noted no aircon in the room, this could be a problem in the summer
Location: So very close to the beach and 5 to 10 minutes walk to the 'strip' where much of the nightlife is (though as out of season much closed)
This was an exceptionally good Expedia deal, inexpensive for the combined flight and hotel as well as transfer from Faro airport. Everything went smoothly and no isssues whatsoever. Im sure in the summer time the whole resort will be heaving but early December very few tourists were evident and much of the local resort area outside the hotel was mothballed. The hotel itself did have enjoyable entertainment every night.

Misleading informationPosted Nov 26, 2013
Overall, this hotel is fine. It's right on top of the water, and you may likely get a room facing the ocean. However, for the room we purchased, "Studio, Sea View," the site very clearly says, "One double bed or two twin beds." Well, I assumed that to mean that the customer gets to choose. Not the case. In fact, all that they offer is two cots ("sleeper sofa beds"). There is one sofa bed that has an additional bed stored underneath. You pull it out, pull up the legs, and can place these two beds next to one another. Separate sheets and blankets for each bed. Not what I was imagining. The hotel staff did not offer to upgrade us, without having to pay significantly more money. Based on the description, I would have never imagined this. They should really fix their description, as I feel it's quite misleading.

Nice hotel being taken downmarketPosted Oct 17, 2013
My wife and I have visited CPO 5 times in the past 6 or 7 years, and have always had a good time there. It, along with the other Petchey Leisure hotels nearby, has been bought by an organisation called MGM (nothing to do with the Cinema/Movie company) who appear to be intent on taking out cost and pushing prices up. The bar prices are going up above inflation each time we visit. They have started only turning down beds every second day. Bigger issue is that they have removed all 4 heated spas and replaced them with wooden decking, presumably to save money. These were one of the main attractions of the hotel for us. They have also filled in half of the pool to make it about 1.4 metres deep at the "deep" end, whereas is was originally 2.2 metres, with a glass window from the deep end into the reception area. This has all gone now, making the pool too shallow for adults to safely jump into. The other nice thing about staying at a Petchey Leisure hotel was that you can use the facilities if the other nearby hotels in the group, so one has a nicer bar, the other has a better pool, etc. and they are all nearby, so you can go to any hotel in the group and use their facilities. They have introduced coloured armbands to prevent people doing that, which is a real shame. They are happy for you to spend money in the bars of other group hotels, but they don't allow CPO residents to use the Oura View Beachclub pool. The only place they appear to have spent money is a weird reception refurb

Pros: Superb location
Cons: Modernise the apartments and replace the uncomfortable sofa
Location: Wonderful beaches. Interesting old town.
When we arrived we were allocated a one bedroom apartment in an anex.It was dingy with a tiny balcony, small TV, safe too small for a laptop and the paid wifi did not work. We had stayed here before so knew we had been given a bum deal.. We requested a new apartment and were given a lovely one bedroom, open plan apartment with wifi router in the room, adequate size safe and adequate size TV. It made all the difference to our 9 day holiday. Staff are very helpful and professional, location for the beach is magic and the apartments are close to the strip with supermarkets and restaurants, etc. Also within walking distance to the town centre or a short bus ride.Make sure you have dinner at the Beach Cafe, 100 m east along the beach path for a most delicious meal and the best beach around. The apartments are well appointed if a little dated, particularly the bathroom but otherwise very comfortable, spacious and airy.

Great Location, close to the beach and stripPosted Sep 21, 2013
Pros: View from balcony and space in the one bedroom apartment.
Cons: Air Conditioning needed, room supplied a fan but if had been a hotter as it is in AUG then the room would not have been pleasant.
We booked a studio apartment in Clube Praia da Oura, Albufeira but when we arrived found it too small for us so paid to upgrade to a one bedroom apartment which was lovely. Cost an extra £260, but as we were there for 10 days was worth the money for the comfort. Room was cleaned everyday for the first week but then not cleaned for 3 days, we went to reception and it was sorted straight away. Beautiful views from the balcony We were on the corner of the east block over looking the beach. Room 562. Towels and sufficient cooking utensils all supplied. Would return to this hotel. The beach was beautiful and lots of little coves as well as main beaches. Lovely little beach café which does good food and cocktails. Sun beds were 6 euros to hire and well worth the money if you are there for a full day. The strip was ok, took a bit of getting used to as quite hectic, lots of stag and hen dos but we saw no trouble and everyone seemed to be having a good time.Top of the strip is quieter and the bottom towards the beach much more lively. The new town is a short taxi ride away and cost about 6 euros or you can catch the tourist train which is 2 euros each way.Very busy but something for everyone. Many shops, restaurants and bars. All in all a great place as has something for everyone. Weather was between 27 and 32 everyday. Only one cloudy day but still warm. We went the second week of September and generally we were told it is usually good at this time.

Pleasant Setting on Good BeachPosted Sep 16, 2013
Pros: Location, sea view, good beach, pleasant gardens.
Cons: Choice & comfort of beds TV should be lowered - picture/sound quality not good. Privacy screens to sides of patios Airconditioning
Location: The location is ideal for a relaxing beach holiday. The walk along a rugged coastal path to Old Town is unspoilt and worth the effort (45 mins).
Initally disappointed to find two single beds when we had booked a double bed. Told that to obtain a double bed we would have to upgrade to a bigger unit at a cost of hundreds of Euro's. Why can't a double bed be installed into the room and if not, could that option not be excluded at time of booking? Another shock was to find that there was no airconditioning, which one would have expected in this climate and in a property of this nature.. However, the room had excellent views of the sea from a very pleasant patio, the gardens were well tended and the position of the complex on the beach, very good.

Good location, great view, disappointing roomPosted Sep 12, 2013
Pros: The pool and restaurant area
Cons: Parking was terrible! The beds need upgrading (we paid for a double room but were given those horrible camp beds)!
Location: The strip is a great place to go out and have a few cocktails!
The view from the apartments with sea view is amazing, but we did pay for a double room and got 2 single camp beds which was very disappointing!
