Worth visiting - on or off season!Posted Jan 7, 2013 on Hotels.com
We stayed here for two nights during off season and had a wonderful stay. The staff upgraded us to an enormous room and was helpful, friendly and accommodating the entire time. The breakfast was delicious and the location is excellent. Highly recommended!

Passing throughPosted May 11, 2009 on Hotels.com
I stayed at Costa D'oiro for one night on my way to a Aljezur. The hotel was very clean, the staff very friendly and helpful and overall the place efficiently run. My room was very clean and comfortable with a little patio leading out to the pool. Lagos centre is only a 20 minute walk and beaches even closer. I didn't eat at the hotel but the bar staff were very friendly and made an effort to look after me. Probably more of a couples hotel than a single traveller but I was off camping and wanted a night of comfort before my trip. I would recomend the place to friends and re-vist myself should I be in Lagos again.

Wonderful respite in LagosPosted Nov 25, 2007
We loved this hotel. It was away from the bustle of downtown. This did mean that we usually drove to the oldtown, but it was a doable walk as well. Our unit had a deck that looked out on a courtyard with a view of a pool. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly.

A pleasant holiday.Posted Nov 2, 2007
Very happy with the hotel.Only drawback is that it is a good 20 minute walk from Central Lagos and this might not suit everyone as the return is slightly uphill. Not drastic but a consideration for the less mobile. Food good and wine very reasonable. Staff pleasant and cleanliness particularly of rooms superb.

Good quality hotelPosted Oct 26, 2007
This was a very well maintened small hotel complex which was in a quiet residential area. Very clean and bright. Only ate breakfast in the hotel which was continental style with a large variety of breads, hams, cheeses and fruit etc. Scrambled eggs and Algarve type bacon most mornings. Swimming pools on site but unfortunately at the time of year we visited (October) too cold to use. Hotel is situated about 20-25minute walk into Lagos town although there are a few very good restaurants within walking distance and beaches are also nearby (although down steps - quite steep). Would advise hiring a car to explore the other resorts with the wide variety of beaches.

Sent somewhere else!Posted Sep 22, 2007
Arrived at Costa D'Oiro at two o'clock in the morning after several delayed flights to be told that they were full up and we couldn't stay there (despite having booked some three months previously) and were driven to Priaha De Luz (some 10km away) to another hotel. Whilst the new hotel was excellent, we paid to stay in Lagos (and had to pay 20euros for a round trip each time we went there) and had our hearts set on going to the hotel which we had booked! Unaccpetable and were never given much by way of apology, would definitely recommend against staying with this group.

Unusual hotel in LagosPosted Apr 13, 2007
Reading the reviews, I was not sure what to expect but found the little recption charming and the two staff on duty very pleasant. They gave us a number of publications and maps and explained the basic layout of the hotel and one of them then showed us around the facilities before jumping in our car to show us our room, 66, in a very nice villa around the corner. the room was clean, nicely furnished, with a small patio outside, two loungers and a private lawn. there was a small pool shared, I believe with four other rooms. There was plenty of crockery should we have needed it ( & a kettle ! ) and plenty of hot water & towels. Breakfast was good, hot, cold , fruits etc with an interesting table of local specialities. The bar, though small, has satellite TV for those who cant miss their football. Did not try the hotel restaurant as there are too many good and different restaurants in easy walking/driving distance. Lots of golfers thee when we were who all seemed to be enjoying it. Will try again next year when I am travelling on my own.

Good value in enjoyable locationPosted Oct 5, 2006
10 enjoyable days in May. Our room good size but basic. Though facilities less varied than other 4* hotels this is relaxed and comfortable with good service and a more personal approach. Very good for quiet relaxing holiday and an excellent base to explore the western Algarve

Room lotteryPosted Oct 1, 2006
Holiday was booked for 4 people and staying in the same Hotel. On arrival (10 Sept 06) we were going to be put in different buildings, we objected. The receptionist then took our friends to a large suite and put us in the smallest hotel room in the complex(room 3813).There was only one bedside table so I used the only chair. The balcony overlooked the dusty car park and the shower room was very cramped and made the toilet roll wet.Cases had to be kept on the floor and in the way. I asked to be moved and after 3 days and constant visits to the reception we were eventually moved to a much better room in another building. The breakfasts were good and the cleanliness was top class. The reception area is small and 6 people in there would probably need oxygen. There is a small bar with limited comfortable seats and no lounge. The problem is that the complex of several buildings is a mixture of suites and large and small bedrooms. There does not seem to be a system of allocation of rooms so you are in fact in a lottery. Had I been allocated the room I ended up with, there would have been little complaint. However the constant visits to the reception to get the room changed did not start the holiday off on the right foot. The brakfasts are good with a wide selection of food. The pretty beach is a short walk away although uphill on your return. The town is also within walking distance if you are fit and able.We won't be returning to this hotel as I don't like nasty surprises.
