Lovely HotelPosted Oct 16, 2013
We stopped in early October 2013 and found the hotel to be lovely. Very close to the beach and lots of nice places to eat. We went for the B&B option and there was plenty to choose from. The only bad point would be that Internet was not free anywhere in the hotel and with plenty of other hotels already offering this, it may be something they should consider.

Lovely hotel, close to beachPosted Oct 15, 2013
Pros: The hotel itself is based on a pedestrianised promenade which leads directly onto the beach. There are many cafés and restaurants in the area.
Cons: The only small comment we could make is that in the hotel room itself you could hear people walking in the rooms above due to the laminate flooring.
Location: Top tip take a taxi or stroll inro Vilamora marina which is wonderful and has so many shops and restaurants to spend time strolling around.
We stayed at Dom Jose for a short four night stay in October. The hotel was very clean with friendly staff. We had booked a deluxe room overlooking the sea and the views were amazing. The room albeit rather on the small side was more than adequate for the two of us. There was a small balcony which from which you had wonderful views of the sea and the beautiful sunsets.

dom jose beach hotelPosted Oct 5, 2013
Pros: location, friendly and helpful staff, rooms were always kept clean and tidy, and the airport transfers were excellent(not included)
Cons: Perhaps the rooms could have a double bed .As a lot of the bars nearby had free wifi perhaps the hotel could have it in some public areas.
Location: Perfect location, next to beach, very quiet although there are many places to eat and drink nearby.
we stayed at this hotel for 5 nights, and the hotel is in a excellent location next to the beach and it is on a pedestrian walkway which is home to many bars and restaurants. We would recommend having a drink on the hotel balcony which has excellent sea views. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The only disappointment was that the room had 2 single beds pushed together which for a married couple is not ideal. Perhaps the hotel could allow free Wi-Fi in the public area as it was available in many bars near the hotel. Overall we would highly recommend this hotel and we would like to visit again one day.

Nice public areas but rooms a bit disappointingPosted Sep 16, 2013
Cons: A second suitcase stand would be useful as there are no chairs to serve this purpose. The rugs on the tiled floor were disgustingly dirty.
The hotel is well located opposite the beach. The pool and public areas are very nice. The biggest disappointment was the room as there was quite literally no where to put anything. There was enough room in the bathroom for my wife's toilet bag but no where to put any items you might want to remove. My toilet bag lived on the floor in the corner.

Absolutely lovely holiday, Dom Jose was fabulous.Posted Sep 14, 2013
Pros: Cleanliness, closeness to beach, cleanliness, staff and food all excellent
Cons: We would have loved a room with a balcony
Location: Very close to Villamoura which we love because it is so lively and pretty
Dom Jose was lovely quiet hotel, very clean, lovely staff and we will be back. We would have loved a room with a balcony. We loved the breakfast and dinner.

Nice location but room too smallPosted Sep 1, 2013
Room was so small that there was nowhere to put the cases. There was sand on the floor. The shaggy rugs were as disgusting as the spare blankets, which had never been washed. The bathroom was so small that there was quite literally nowhere to put your toilet bag except the floor. I got a terrible night's sleep on a convex mattress until I got up in the middle of the night to turn it over. Note to hotel manager if you are reading this: if a mattress is concave owing to long service or kids trampolining, it just makes it worse to flip it over. Room 502 if you want to fix it. On the plus side: the location of the hotel and the public areas were nice. There are relatively few foreign holiday-makers, so I only saw one Englishman passed out in a street cafe in the middle of the afternoon. :-) I may have seen more if I had stayed longer than one night.

Great hotel and good value for money.Posted Sep 1, 2013
Location: Lots of bars and resturants are very close
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly, we had only booked breakfast but the food was very good quality. The hotels position is excellent and just a few meters from the beach. We paid the extra money for a sea view and felt it was worth every penny to wake up to the sound of the sea in the morning.

Not disappointed, Will be backPosted Aug 28, 2013 on Hotels.com
I just spent a week staying at Dom Jose with my wife and would recommend it, although 10 days would be the max. I say this cause the rooms although spotless and modern in facilities are small. The hotel itself is spotless with nice decor(dont be fooled by external appearance) We stayed B&B, the breakfast was enjoyable with nice fruit, bread etc. If you're looking for fry-ups etc you will be disappointed. The pool is small but we used the beach which is 30 sec from the hotel and breautiful. I much prefered Querteria than Villamoura, nice feeling about the area. All in all, not for everyone but if you find too many faults maybe you should holiday at home.

I had a very noisy room above the pool and the staff were very helpful in finding me a new room But, they need to enforce their pool rules - there were kids hanging out around the pool area after it was closed, also people reserved loungers with towels even though there is a sign saying you can not do it!

Very nice hotelPosted Aug 15, 2013 on Hotels.com
Hotel in a great location, very good customer service, ok food, not so keen on the evening buffet, sorry:( Beds were ok, not great tho. Pool area very good.I wish hotel could supply with irons, as visitors coming from abroad have to pack everything in small suitcases, and it was a big let down that this hotel didnt have iron even in the reception. The whole stay every morning workers were painting side of the hotel, which was next to our room, which left our room smell terrible and with the heat it was getting worse, and for obvious reasons we couldnt open the patio doors.
