Excellent Location

Posted Sep 26, 2014
Pros: The pool area, beach and location
Cons: Breakfast on B & B rate poor quality & choice.
Location: Beach great, 'the strip' is fun, a great bar called 'Ireland's Eye' with a singer called Paddy the Punk! Some good restaurants in the area
Booked this hotel for its location to beach, restaurants etc Stayed for 5 nights and the location could not have been better. We stayed in a seaview room which is a 'must'. Breakfast in the hotel is poor but the option for continental breakfast delivered free to the room was great. Didn't eat any other meals at the hotel. Beach fantastic, but annoying to have to pay extra for the hotels sunbeds. Great bar service around the pool area. Some excellent restaurants and bars locally and around the area. Casino great fun. Would go back.

Close to beach

Nice Hotel in an ideal spot close to the beach does seem a little tired and dated now though. Only other complaint was that the pool bar closes a little early, it would be nice to sit and have a drink and watch the sun go down without staff whipping the table cloths away because they are closing up at 6

We will be back

Thoroughly enjoyable time at hotel! Was nervous as first holiday with my son aged 15 months at time of travel. Breakfast was great and staff very friendly. Reception staff could be more helpful but still very nice! So close to beach and resturants. We had a ball and my son loved the pool. The parrot was great and the staff at kids pool very friendly and great with the kids

Amazing Hotel

Perfect location next to beach, restaurants and shops. Very helpful and friendly staff. Excellent pool side restaurant which we ate at nearly every day. The bar staff were very good and the views from the sunset bar in the evening are not to be missed!

Beautiful sea view

Posted Sep 5, 2014
Pros: Location and room
Cons: Certain Furnishings could be touched up and updated in the room.
Location: Beach right at the front!
We had a room with a sea view and the room was very comfortable and clean. Definitely not a 5 star anymore and certain areas look a little tired and dated but that said it was overall very good and well located. Housekeeping was excellent, fresh towels and robes everyday, aircon and wifi also worked well. Excellent buffet breakfast with lots of variety and fresh fruit. Be sure to try the hotel's lunch buffet at their cafe by the beach, the food was very fresh, clean and staff were friendly. I would stay here again for sure.

Excellent hotel close to the beach.

Posted Aug 27, 2014
Pros: Excellent breakfast. Lovely terrace for a cool drink. Large balcony and sea view for the deluxe rooms.
Cons: The furniture in the room is a bit old fashioned and the water in the bathroom is slow/difficult to control the temperature.
Location: In the quiet part of town although only five minutes walk to the strip. Good restaurants in the area.
This is an excellent hotel with direct access to the beach via a drawbridge. The hotel was built in the 1930's and has a charming old fashioned feel.

Location : Right on the beach

Posted Aug 15, 2014
Pros: The reception area beautiful. The rooms are spacious & for a little extra, has a sea view with balcony & robes. Great access to the beach via the step
Cons: The computers could be upgraded as they are very slow & some were not working.
Location: Location on the beautiful beach. Boat trips through the caves gr*t & well organised. Portimaio town next to the resort for shopping. Alvor harbour
Great hotel. Beautiful reception area. Air conditioned. Great breakfast . Staff helpful & had a wonderful stay as usual. the pool is warm & good & deep to swim in. It is never crowded. Sea view brilliant & the hotel is kept immacuately clean. Pleasant entertainment every night with a sea view bar.

lovely hotel right on the beach

Posted Aug 11, 2014
Pros: fantastic, comfortable sea view rooms (even the extra bed is comfy)! hotel is central to everything in resort.
Cons: breakfast could be more of a variety for a 5* hotel.tea/coffee could have been warmer. maybe a live chef making omelettes/pancakes etc?
Location: hotel is right on the beach with its own access. 10 minutes walk one way takes you to the marina with a variety of restaurants.
lovely hotel right on the fantastic praia da rocha beach. having stayed in this hotel last year we noticed the staff were more helpful and friendly than previously. great hotel - would return again.
