Hübsches Hotel in sehr ruhiger LagePosted Dec 7, 2014

November 2014 - Baia GrandePosted Nov 22, 2014
Pros: -good location -nice staff -nice piano bar with live music -nice ocean view from the room (if you take a seaside room) -good breakfast buffet
Cons: Outdoor pool looks very nice but was cold (unheated), so it couldn't really be used for swimming (however there is also a heated indoor pool).
Location: 10 min on foot to the ocean, several great beaches to visit. There is a free shuttle bus from the hotel to Albufeira (takes 7 min to get there).
Stayed for 13 days in November 2014. Very good overall impression. Very quiet environment in and around the hotel (in November), many great beaches around (Coelha, Sao Rafael, Castelo), absolutely incredible cliffs (!!!). Ocean water warm enough to swim even in the winter months. Swam several times, the only problem was high waves. There's not so much "civilization" around the hotel, which was also a good issue, especially if you need a quiet place for the stay, but the nearest city (Albufeira) is only 7 min away, there's a free shuttle bus from the hotel. Been to Spain before, in my opinion Portugal is very different from it. Strongly recommend this hotel and Portugal as a country to visit.

Quiet hotel with great views of countryside or seaPosted Nov 7, 2014
Pros: Quiet location, perfect for reading, walking - but don't expect much by entertainment - there is next to no poolside noise, and no bar disruption
Cons: The beds are a bit basic for 4 star and there were a couple of minor coffee stains on the carpet - but the bathroom was pristine.
Location: Beatuiful beach a downhill walk away (but remember uphill coming back), countryside walks, a number of bars and restaurants within easy walking.
This hotel is outside of Albufeira in a quiet rural location, 800m downhill to a beautiful beach, and 7 euro taxi ride away fronm town (although there is a limited free hotel shuttle - limited in the humner of journeys it makes per day). The hotel reception and cocktail bar are stunning, the rooms are bright, clean and spacious (and a sea view does mean a sea view), car park views get a slating in reviews on here, but the car park is clean, tree-lined and the view is exactly as described, there is nothing dirty or industrial about it. However, car park balconies are smaller than sea balconies). Breakfast is great, in a buffet style airy and spacious restaurant. The same applies at dinner which doesn't rock my boat, too much of the canteen about it, but the quality, variety and presentation are excellent. The indoor pool is a little dated looking, but again clean and warm. The outdoor pool is not heated and the outdoor jacuzzi becomes the hotel fountain at night! The pool bar is charming and ALL the staff speak excellent English.

Close to many beachesPosted Nov 4, 2014
The hotel is close to many beaches which is nice. The male members of staff are helpful and polite some of the women appear unhelpful. The indoor swimming pool is very cold which I think needs improving. The breakfast was very good, overall the hotel is nice. The location is not for anyone who wants to be in the Center of town though there is a free shuttle service the last one is at 6.40. The restaurants around the hotel are pricey but if you walk to sol rafeal beach there is an excellent restaurant called Praia grande.

Nice hotel within close proximity to main stripPosted Oct 31, 2014
The trip could not started off worse with us missing our flight. When arriving in Portugal they said we missed our transfer to the hotel which I was unimpressed with as the voucher never stated a specific time or company for that matter!! The hotel itself was good. Very quiet but that was probably because it was off season. The staff based on previous reviews were not rude but we're stern and could have done with better people skills. The room was good no complaints. It's close to the main strip and they provide a free shuttle each day which is good. We arranged all our activities at the hotel which was conveniant as they included transport in the price there and back. Could have been a bit more livelier but given it was off season and consisted of mainly elderley people that was to be expected.

Excellent base for exploring with comfort & peacePosted Oct 18, 2014
Pros: The relaxed atmosphere, cleanliness, peaceful night sleep, location as a base for touring the Algarve with car.Nice filling breakfast.Competitive price.
Cons: Only thing I would say is a necessity nowadays is to have WI-FI, free in the rooms also, not just the lobby.Helps with planning your travels.
Location: Picturesque towns like Carvoiero,Portimao or Lagos, an excellent shopping mall at Guia.Highlands at Monchique,Castle at Silves,Coastline Ponte Piadade
After much searching for a hotel that fit the bill along the coastline and around Albufeira, we settled on the Baia Grande. I must say for the week we wanted, it was also the cheapest ! Having looked around the town after we had I checked in, all I can say is that I am glad we stayed here rather than noisy crowded rooms or apartments in close vicinity to pub after pub and the crowds. I can't understand the people who marked the place down because the entertainment was more suited to older people and was too quiet. My partner and I are in our mid 40's and most of the other guests were retirees or OAPs, for that I am glad. It meant that we actually got sleep of a night instead of putting up with those type of guests who talk all night on the balcony at the top of their voices or generally annoy other people. The room was very clean and warm with a great balcony view. I was surprised how well sound insulated it was when the door was shut. The entertainment didn't finish that late either, another bonus. The breakfast was well appointed with either continental or English, plenty of fruit or cereal and hot drinks. For me the reviews I read before booking had a lot of nit-picking and those just want perfection and are probably never satisfied with anything. The hotel and grounds were well kept, always space to park. The staff were generally helpful and we didnt have any cause to complain. If you want loud music, booze and to talk all night, this place isn't for you. Obrigado !!

Last Minute HolidayPosted Oct 13, 2014
Pros: The hotel was welcoming and staff very friendly and added bonus of hospitality bus. Weather was lovely and sunny.
Cons: It would be nice to have a tea and coffee facility in the bedroom.
Location: Near to Albufeireia, lots of night life in the Old Town and plenty of beaches
Just spent a last minute holiday at this hotel. Very pleasantly surprised on arrival we were surprised it is only a 4 star rating. The Hotel was spotless, the staff were friendly and helpful. Location was just right, not too far away from Albufereira and the hospitality bus service was an added bonus.

tres bon rapport qualite/prixPosted Oct 9, 2014
