Fabulous locationPosted Apr 18, 2011
This hotel is in an amazing location, situated in the Old Town, right on the beach, and all rooms have a sea view balcony. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good and the cooked food was varied every day. Don't expect a double room because they are all twin beds. The evening entertainment in the bar area overlooking the sea was very popular. We had a fabulous stay with no complaints.

very nice fam hotel & proud of their tradition. good 3* hotel in 5* location. staff friendly and helpful.v. kind with disabled. exellent value for money in jan/feb when weather can be wet and miserable or 22 deg. food not fantastic but lots of restaurants, shops etc everything closeby.great for exploring, helps if you are good at steps & hills. difficult car parking. temperature of indoor pool is wonderful .the sound of waves on the sand as you go to sleep is fantasic.

Tired dated hotel but the location in excellentPosted Feb 17, 2011 on Hotels.com
The Sol e Mar is in an enviable position, right on the beach and also in the centre of the old town. This is the selling point and the hotel definitely relies on this. The staff are complacent, they don't smile very much. The food is a basic, apples OR bananas are the total of their fresh fruit, all other food is the cheapest that can be supplied. The beach bar below the hotel is basic and a word of advice if you need to use the toilet don't use the one in the hotel's beach bar. Overall the hotel is a basic type 1960/70's type building, its tired and needs completely renovated, it has no grounds or outside pool, but it has a great location so it sits back because it knows that it will always have guests for that reason. If you are not planning to spend much time in the hotel and you are using it as a base then it will suit, but if you want luxury, good food and to spend time around the hotel then this is not the place for you.

Excellent VenuePosted Jan 18, 2011
Returned to the Sol e Mar for the second year running in January. Fantastic value. Excellent breakfast with wonderful view. Clean room with a bath, fridge, sea view, balcony and sky news on TV. Efficient maids. Helpful staff. A pleasant indoor pool and a hotel lift to take you from the beach to the clifftop. Great location with plenty restaurants and shops nearby. Plan to return again, possibly in winter, because the weather was delightful for the time of year - warm & sunny.
