“Lovely few days! Very relaxing”

Stayed here for a few days at the end of May with my girlfriend. If you want a quiet relaxing break away from everything consider this hotel. It is out of the way but not isolated. The weather was great and the hotel was very very nice. Decent breakfast served until 11, peaceful as it is away from the hustle and bustle of Albufeira (Nice for a day trip but not a stay in my opinion)lovely pool area where there was always plenty of space, nice spa and jacuzzi etc where you can get massages etc (costs extra but not the world). the only drawback was that the restaurant is a bit overpriced for what you get but as there are some really nice places to eat within 15 mins walk that are more reasonable that didnt bother us. San domingoes was good. (ask reception) or if you have plenty of money go to the Vila Joya restaurant across the way for double Michelin star cuisine. 4 hours, great food and a great night in gorgeous surroundings. but as i say, if you have plenty of money or if you dont but just fancy a once in a lifetime experience! we were able to keep ourselves to ourselves here and as that was what we wanted and the hotel was well kept and so peaceful. Get the hotel bus over to Albufeira to save a few quid on taxis.

“Utterly Fantastic!”

My husband and I went in January for four nights and didn't want to come home. The hotel is immaculate. We were welcomed with tea and hot towels-the staff were all very friendly and helpful, particularly the restaurant manager. The spa was luxurious, the food was wonderful, the rooms were very relaxing and comfortable. The small touches were very unique. We personally thanked all of the staff as we left as they were so wonderful. We will definitely go back and would highly recommend the hotel to anyone who is wanting a relaxing break away from it all.

“Fantastic Hotel”

My wife and I stayed during the quiet season in December 2005. The hotel was fantastic. Great service, great rooms, great food and nice spa area. Particularly good choice of food at breakfast. As other reviewers have said, there were lots of little touches which made our stay fantastic rather than just superb... As an aside, the area is best suited to a 'relaxing' holiday - the Algarve does not have much to offer unless you are into sunbathing, golf or drinking... talking of which Albufeira itself is a tatty tourist trap best avoided - thankfully a few miles away from this hotel.

Really enjoyed our stay, was quiet and very relaxing. Hotel was very clean and tidy. Room was great. Wide variety of food for breakfast. Dinner meal deal made dining affordable. Only downside was having to pay for use of tennis court and equipment.

“Great Hotel - if you like things quite!”

The hotel certainly lives up to it's ratings, with most of the staff being helpful and efficient. The rooms are comfortable,air conditioned, and cleaned thoroughly. The pool is very cold,(fresh water),and the only critiscm we would voice is that the pool area service could be better. Food and drink are excellent with very friendly bar service - breakfast is a must. We intend to return!

“Rest & relaxation”

If you need a break to just switch off, this is the hotel for you. Lovely staff, quiet area, perfect for swimming (weather permitting), eating and being pampered in the spa. I've just been with my sister and we completely chilled for 3 days. not long enough really though, 5 would have been perfect.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights from the 8th November 2005. As this was the end of the season, we found it pleasantly quiet and very peaceful. I had requested that the hotel leave a bottle of champagne in our room when we arrived for my husband's birthday, and they did so, together with a plate of strawberries, which was a lovely touch. There was fresh fruit and water in our room, and the housekeepers did a wonderful job with the cleaning, replacing the tealights and incense sticks, which were another nice touch. The spa area was very relaxing, as was outside by the pool, which had piped music continuously played to relax you while you bathed, whale noises etc. We took in a couple of massages whilst there and came away feeling thoroughly pampered. The buffet breakfast was delicious every morning - what a choice, and the evening dinners were superb; the French chef did not disappoint with some very fine and tasty dishes. The staff were very helpful and polite and friendly and we were very sorry to have to leave and come home! We would fully recommend this hotel to a couple who would like to take a break away from it all, to relax in the sunshine and have the beach a mere 2 minute walk away. We will definately be going back next year.

“Fantastic hotel, great for relaxing by the pool or beach”

The hotel was recently refitted (2005) and it's great. The rooms we had was large, well fitted, air conditioning etc. and you even get a pillow menu! A nice addition were the robes and beach / pool towels they give you. All rooms have a DVD player and reception had a good selection of current movies to choose from. The hotel restaurant food and service were both excellent and good value; importantly for us they also a couple of vegetarian options but try the 'Duck and drunk pear'. The included buffet breakfast had a good fresh selection too. All the staff we encountered were very welcoming and always helpful. The free courtesy bus they run to Albufeira runs three times a day and is a great addition as Gale isn't a party town. Get the last bus if you fancy a night at the bars and get a taxi back; the best of both worlds. Beach is about 2 mins walk away and has a couple of beach snack bars / restaurants too. The area has a few other restaurants all about 15 min walk away, but worth the walk. We can recommend the Quo Vadis Pizzaria, follow the orange curry club signs.
