Perfect for a September chill out breakPosted Oct 9, 2014
Pros: The manager and staff The location
Cons: Small thing but it would be useful if there was a dishcloth The key is huge so you need some space in a bag for it!
Location: 15 minute walk to marina - multiple bars and restaurants 20 minute walk to Quarteira - great fish market and huge beach promenade
I was a little nervous about staying here as it was a little way from the marina and was a lower star rating than we would usually stay at. However we had the most fantastic week. The weather was perfect which helped but from our arrival and lovely welcome to our departure we really enjoyed our week at Pinhal. The rooms are large, the shower was great, we loved the loungers on the balcony and everywhere the property was immaculately maintained. The kitchen has a sizeable fridge and small freezer section, dishwasher, 2 ring hob and a fair selection of crockery, cutlery, utensils etc. Apart from a couple of dishwasher tablets it did not have any washing up things - liquid, cloth, brush etc. It is about a 15 minute walk to the Marina (it got shorter as the week progressed!), we enjoyed this, it is not a particularly difficult walk, it is on smooth ground without a lot a lot of traffic although there is a slight slope on the way back. It was very peaceful (apart from the works being carried out in a nearby villa not connected to Pinhal) at this time of year. I would very happily return.

Nice apartment with patio doorsPosted Sep 28, 2014
Pros: The reception staff, spacious studio apartment, access to swimming pools, grounds (trees, plants, flowers), towels changed on a regular basis.
Cons: Cleanliness of apartment on arrival (bathroom mirror and area around wash basin and kitchen tops Floors dirty, table top dusty). Pillow too small.
Location: Located about 5 - 7 minute walk to supermarket. Nothing to do nearby. 15 - 20 minute walk to Vilamoura Marina.
leading to a spacious verandah with sun loungers overlooking a swimming pool and surrounded by trees and plants. Reception staff were welcoming, friendly and informative. It was my first experience of not staying somewhere where the beach was visible and was pleasantly surprised at the benefits of being able to sunbathe and access the pool in the comfort of the holiday apartment and get a drink and something to eat without having to go through the routine of leaving and going back to the beach. I would definately recommend renting a car if staying at the apartments as it is a good 15 minute walk to Vilamoura Marina and there is no public transport in the vicinity, leaving taxis as the main source of transport to explore surrounding areas.

Wonderful hotel, wonderful location!Posted Aug 28, 2014
Pros: Beautiful grounds, location of hotel, amenities provided free of charge - wifi, air con, safe, etc. Overall excellent accommodation!
Cons: I can't think of anything that needs to be improved in this hotel - best accommodation I've ever had abroad!
Location: The marina is the closest place to go with a vast choice of restaurants and bars and also a selection of shops.
This was our first visit to Portugal and after this holiday we will definitely be returning! The hotel is located in a lovely area and the marina is only a short walking distance away - although if you're lazy like us you can get a taxi for about 3 Euros which is a bargain! The hotel itself is set in beautiful grounds, with two pools to choose from and a central restaurant/bar. We were greeted upon arrival in reception by two very friendly receptionists who gave us all the necessary information for our stay and then also showed us to our apartment. We couldn't get over the size of the apartment - it far exceeded our expectations! Very clean, with all the necessary mod cons if you wanted to do the full self-catering - cooker, microwave, dishwasher, etc. We were lucky enough to be given a second floor apartment which gave us a prime balcony which have two sun loungers and a table and still have plenty of room on them! Perfect for sunbathing without even leaving your apartment! As it was only a long weekend we were staying for, we didn't really explore much of the area other than the marina but I saw adverts for water parks, theme parks, boat rides, etc - plenty to keep you busy if you're after that kind of thing! Overall I can't recommend this hotel highly enough, it really did help to make our holiday perfect and when given the chance, we will definitely be returning!

Excellent accommodation and close to the MarinaPosted Aug 22, 2014
Pros: The apartment was lovely and clean and very spacious. The pool was lovely and clean.
Cons: A table and chairs on the balcony for the number of people the apt accommodated, rather that 2 sun loungers.
Our experience at the Pinhal de Marina was great.

Doesn't have wifi in rooms! Overpriced and old.Posted Jul 20, 2014
Pros: The front desk staff attempted to make-up for a mix up at check-in. Unfortunately, too late as it had left a sour impression.
Cons: Rooms, facilities, check-in process, location.
Location: It's far from most everything unless you rent a car.
The amenities list wifi in rooms and they definitely DON'T have it, barely works in the public space. When I asked the front desk about it she laughed it off and said that her manager must done it because they definitely don't have wifi in the rooms. This hotel is way too expensive for what you get. Whilst a huge apartment it doesn't look like it's been updated since the 70's or 80's. It's about a 20-25 minute walk from the marina and beach. Many other hotels in the area that are similar or cheaper in price that I would recommend staying at instead.

A great location for a relaxing holiday!Posted Jul 3, 2014
Pros: Spacious apartments, choice of two pools, good restaurant and bar facilities, friendly staff
Cons: Sofa bed could have been better, kitchen could have included washing up liquid/sponges and tea/coffee
Location: Spar supermarket nearby, great marina 15 mins walk, beach 20 mins walk, Albufeira only around 20 mins in a taxi
Pinhal was a great experience for our short break. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment overlooking the main pool and we were very happy with our apartment. Dora at reception was extremely helpful upon arrival, giving us tips for nearby shops and directions to the marina and beach, as well as showing us to our room. We arrived at around 11am and despite the 5pm stated check-in time our room was ready for us to check-in. The apartment was very well equipped, with the exception of washing up liquid/sponges or tea/coffee for the kitchen. The beds were very comfortable and the apartment was spacious and light, although the sofa bed was only a single pull-out which could have been slightly better. We spent most of our time at the second pool which was very serene and relaxing. We ate at the restaurant on site one day and the food was very nice, the drinks were reasonably priced the staff were all very friendly. The nearest shop was around a 5 minute walk which proved very useful! The marina is around a 15 minute walk and we dined out most nights, a great selection of restaurants for all budgets. We ventured to the Vilamoura beach which is around 20 mins walk, a beautiful beach with great parasols and a few restaurants, although it was a bit too windy for us to brave the sea! All in all we had a great time and the apartments exceeded our expectations. I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting a nice relaxing break.
