“Very Good”

Excellent stay with great quality accomodation, very clean and tidy. Service in the restaurants was extremely slow, waiting staff never came to you to ask if you wanted another drink etc. apart from this would definately recommend if you are looking for a chill out week.

“Not up to the Price!”

This is a very attractive hotel and has some good features but it was spoiled by one or two niggles. The pool and surrounding gardens are one of the best features but for this class of hotel it was surprising that there was no-one in attendance to put out the mattresses and put the towels on the bed, nor, for the first-timer, were there any instructions on where to get these mattresses and towels (which had to be obtained from the spa downstairs). Also, in the room, there was no hotel information about restaurant opening hours, chef's services, dvd/video library - nothing at all. The in-room internet service was not working and no-one knew when it would be. The suite was large but the bathroom small by 5* hotel standards with a shower in the bath (which was very narrow) rather than separate. I can write much more but restricted to 1500 characters!

Steep cliffs dotted with traditional houses rise to either side while the surrounding area has been heavily developed with low-rise apartments. Fishing boats ferry holidaymakers to less busy picture-perfect coves at Benagil, Carvalho and Marinha. Adjacent, the curious eroded rock formations of Algar Seco are worth exploring.
