Late Autumn in the Algarve

Posted Nov 5, 2013
Pros: The location and the relaxed atmosphere. Suitable for all ages and combinations. Staff were great.
Cons: The lighting in the rooms and perhaps an update of the TV? most channels had English with sub-titles.
Location: It's about 40 minutes from Faro Airport. The hire cars are at the airport. The staff are happy to share ideas of what to do.
It was pleasantly warm during the day, comfortably cool at night but too cold to swim. The apartments were studio, clean but less lighting than we are used to, with free tea, coffee and sugar. Everything else in the unit was extra. A great continental or cooked breakfast available. Free WiFi in the mezzanine floor above reception with desktops available for use. Free secure covered parking available under the apartments. On arrival a golf buggy guide through the complex is available. The hotel was in the marina, close to the main beach of Portimao. Even though it was away from the centre of town, the nearby beach has a boardwalk populated with small restaurants. Our favourite is called O Farol which has fabulous fresh fish meals plus other options. Walking to the main tourist facilities was a matter of choosing a set of stairs within easy walking distance of the hotel. We found that driving through town was the most direct but slowest option so we used the outer roads to get in and out of town. All the boat operators are found in town on the river front, which is developed for walking and cycling. A museum about the history of sardine fishing / processing is at the river as well. Golf is also a popular local option. There was less noise from overhead flights than was in Faro.

Lovely hotel in a great location

Posted Nov 1, 2013
Pros: Great value for money.
Cons: Would have been nice if the pool bar was open as I would have expected all facilities to be available until after the half term holidays.
Location: Only a 5 minute walk to the beach via the harbour. Lots of restaurants nearby.
Really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was great. Lovely food. Just a really nice break!

Pros: everything
Location: take a boat ride road the caves its a must see.
Its the first time my partner has had a holiday in 27 years. I've stayed in Portimao before but not with Tivoli. So for my partner first time out here I chose Tivoli in the hopes that we would have wonderful time. We did. Absolutely marvellous.
