“Ideal for couples”

The hotel is beautifully designed in a Morrish style with rooms based arund one of the 2 otdoor pools; small enough ( only 32 rooms)to be very quiet, but large enough to have 3 good sized pools,well maintained designed gardens for lounging in privacy on those hot lazy days; better than expected breakfasts ( sold as continental, but much more than that); friendly knowledgeable staff who helped with all our queries, and booked our golf at significant discounts to advertised rates; enjoyable evening meals with good selection of wines for a quiet night in ( maybe too quiet for eating in all nights but great for when you return after a days golf or sight seeing); Car hire a must as about 2 kms from the centre, ( though could use plentiful supply of taxis); Didn't use spa facilities but looked good. Recommend to couples looking a quiet, beautiful place to stay, in the centre of the Algarve with good access to the the whole coast line. We hope to go back real soon!!

“Quiet relaxing hotel with nice grounds”

Hotel's rating as 4* might be a little high but the new owners are making an effort to bring it up to spec. Hotel staff friendly, polite and helpful. Beautiful Moorish-style setting back from the coast. Room and bathroom facilities fine, and it was nice to have a terrace. Aircon system not particularly silent and, as ever, minibar overly expensive. The "Gym" consisted of only one running machine, though the remainder of the 'spa' facilities are fine. Although stated as such, there is no Internet service (other than using the reception desk systems which I had to do but the staff were fine about it.) We wanted, and got, a quiet relaxing environment and the hotel was a nice base from which we travelled around the region. Not appropriate for people expecting a wild time, but for those seeking a relaxing stay ... not a bad choice at all. We had a car, but transfers to airport and local beaches are provided if you want them. Would we go back? Yes.

“Almost Good”

The hotel is not up to 4* standard but could be with just a bit of effort. The staff are helpful but the restuarant is understaffed and more training is needed for chefs,receptionists and in fact all staff. Spa uses temp staff needing 24hr notice and little detail or explanation of what could be on offer. Local map is woefully inadequate and the town is 2 kilometers walk away ( or 3 if you follow the map). Scary dogs in the villa opposite the main gate mean walking in the evening is not recommended ( by us - the staff say it is not their responsibility, see training recommendation above).
