August 2014Posted Aug 26, 2014
Pros: The breakfast was very good and the view from the restaurant on the 26th floor was amazing.
Cons: The bedrooms - choice of food available in the evenings. The hotel could do with a "make over"
Location: It is close to the beach. marina, public transport and shops.
We were very disappointed with the room, it was very small and on the 2nd floor with a very nice view of the building opposite. We booked half board-the choice of evening meal was limited to one choice of either meat or fish and not all items on the menu available for half board residents,

Excellent location for Beach, Marina, Night life.Posted Jun 19, 2014
Pros: Location, reception staff
Cons: Needs better management and some money spending on it.
Location: Great Location, plenty of bars, nightlife. Fantastic Street parades 2 nights 14 and 15 June. Beach and Marina short walk.
BEWARE ROOM #707!!! ONLY FIT FOR SINGLE PERSON 1 STAR HOTEL. HAD TO STAY ONE NIGHT THEN MOVED (AFTER MUCH PROTESTING) TO #303 WHERE WHICH AT LEAST HAD DRAWERS. KNOBS FELL OFF WARDROBES FIRST NIGHT, HAIR DRIER BROKEN ON ARRIVAL, AIR CONDITIONER FRONT HANGING OFF. I am sure there are better rooms in higher floors.

Budget stay at a great locationPosted Jun 16, 2014 on Hotels.com
The best thing about TRYP Alicante Gran Sol Hotel was the location - a short walk to the marina, beach, restaurants - very central. Street noise was surprisingly quiet (we stayed on the 6th floor). The buffet breakfast was great, even catering to "gluten-free" needs. The hotel service was good. Wi-fi worked on the lower floors. The double-bed room (6th floor) was "dated" and didn't have a view, but was clean and adequate, with a good bathroom. It was a suitable place to stay for 2 nights.

Excellent town hotelPosted May 16, 2014
The Tryp Gran Sol is situated conveniently for the town the castle the harbour and the beach . The staff are very helpful . Every team from reception to housekeeping to catering works hard to make sure your stay is a success . The Mirador Restaurant on the 26 th Floor has views to die for and the food is very good too . Some of the rooms are rather old fashioned now but they are clean and comfortable and the separate sitting room and bedroom is a delight .

Overall stay goodPosted Apr 24, 2014
Pros: 1.- Location - superb, opposite the Marina 2.- Staff - friendly, helpful 3.- Superior room - large and comfortable 4.- External view - priceless
Cons: 1.- Hotel is in need of refurbishment. Lack of investment is visible 2.- More attention to details if the Hotel want to keep their 4 star.
Location: Location is second to none. Just opposite the Marina, walking distance to everything. Visit Parque El Palmeral and catch a train to Elche city
My overall experience was good. I was in a double superior room and it was large and comfortable. Very attentive staff. Cannot fault them. The only thing I would enhance is the boring bar on the ground floor and would revamp the Restaurant which for me has an old fashion atmosphere. A Restaurant on 26th floor would be full every night. The view in the evening is breathtaking. The Management should experience more "hotels outside Spain" to understand how to make more money because it is evident they are "cost" conscious to make the bottom line good to show to their bosses and get the annual bonuses.

hotel in convenient spotPosted Apr 23, 2014
Pros: peace and quiet, good breakfast room, nice reception
Cons: no problems
Location: Nice beach, good restaurants in calla Mayor street. Buildings and church architecture worth seeing.
A short visit for birthday celebration. Excellent to get around the important areas of the town. Easter is a great time to visit as there are iconic parades every night. Well worth the visit.

A Town Hotel convenient for beach castle and harboPosted Feb 20, 2014
The Gran Sol is situated most conveniently for walking to the town centre the harbour the beach and the castle . All the staff are most helpful and do their very best to make sure you enjoy your stay . The roof top restaurant has views to die for and the food is good as well . For some people's taste the standard rooms may be old fashioned but for 2people the suite arrangement is most convenient . A hotel to which we have returned many times and always enjoyed our holiday . It is simple and comfortable ideal for adults less suitable for children .
