Don't Expect Too Much

Posted Aug 13, 2014
Pros: Hanuman Restaurant
Cons: Decor, service, facilities, training.
Location: Nothing nearby at all.
Stayed two nights either side of a six day desert walk and was very underwhelmed to say the least. There are NO five star hotels in Alice and this is probably the best of it but do not expect too much and you won't be disappointed. The staff were eager, friendly but incompetent and the hotel was clean and tidy in a 1970's kind of way. It seems that not a cent has been spent on the place for decades and the whole property gives off more of a motel vibe. My bedside alarm went off at 4.30 a.m. (great), the breakfast was so inedible (raw boiled eggs) and burnt filter coffee that when I sent it back the waitress was most embarrassed. The location is in the middle of no-where and the walk to "town" is not very attractive. The best thing this place has to offer is the fabulous Hanuman Restaurant which is run by a private operator. I would stay somewhere else next time as I'm sure it would be the same just closer to the centre. Hopefully the Hilton will make much needed some changes soon.

A bit tired. Service was great though.

Pros: Staff were good. Little gym was adequate. Had it's own tennis courts.
Cons: Needs a convenience store and to bring back rent-a-bike.
Location: Nice walk to downtown.
Thai / Indian restaurant was nice. Also make sure you ask for the free bottle wine when you grab a couple of mains at the Deck restaurant - they mention this special on elevator advertising.

Great value with lovely touches

Posted Jul 13, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff, homely touches like the cookies and peacock, great value.
Cons: The meal waiting time ridiculous at Deck restaurant.
Had a one night stay with my family after a week long adventure around central australia. Kids wanted to stay longer to try the pool, and enjoy the surroundings. We all enjoyed the complimentary warm choc chip cookies at check in and the kids loved the resident peacock in the pool area. Arrived late afternoon so could not get into the thai/indian restaurant so went to The Deck restaurant onsite for dinner, after an hour of waiting for our meals and enquiring we were told the kitchen also does the room service meals and we should have been told there would be a long wait (we were not). Were given complimentary drinks but an otherwise lovely first impression of the hotel was rapidly dashed through frustration. If the kitchen cant provide meals in a reasonable time frame they need more staff! Things improved in the morning with a great buffet breakfast. Overall extremely good value and very pleasant.

Good facilities

Posted May 30, 2014
Pros: spacious with good facilities. Balcony was useful and allowed doors to be open to allow in fresh air.
Cons: lighting in rooms is poor. Lack of hotel shuttle to town. Hotel information booklet is pretty well useless in rooms.
Location: It is a long walk to town with no option but a taxi.
Family of 5 booked 4 rooms for 3 nights. Facilities are good, but staff let the hotel's reputation down....insufficient information regarding meals, early packed breakfasts, times. Concierge poor with lack of information. Bathroom complimentary bottles difficult to access fluid. It is my first experience with Hilton and I was disappointed, however there isn't much alternative in Alice Springs.

After a rugged outback trip it was nice to come back to the hotel after 3 days camping with a hot cookie and a friendly smile waiting for me.

Very convenient for golfers. A short walk out the back to the golf course. Close enough to town facilities without being too close.

The hotel itself was nice

Posted May 18, 2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel itself was nice but we had someone try to break into our room and surrounding rooms that night. Luckily, I made sure that both balcony doors were locked before we went to sleep that night. Told the lady up front and she seemed comcerned. But the manager didn't seem too concerned about it
