When checking in I was upgraded, I guess because I am a fairly frequent guest and got a suite with balcony and jacuzi which was very nice. The staff were extremely helpful and attentive.

Comfortable and well located hotel
Simple, clean and comfortable room. I stayed for 7 days. Super well located and within walking distance of most sites. Super friendly and helpful staff. Would absolutely stay here again.

Good hotel, just not when it is hot weather.
The hotel is a beautiful building in a good location. It is understandable that a building of that period does not have A/C, however, when it is over 30C outside, there should at least be a fan in the room. I have no idea what material the pillows and duvet were made of, but they were more suited to Arctic conditions and not the height of summer. (Sweaty and very uncomfortable.) The breakfast was good.

This hotel is in a great location. Walking distance to lots of excellent restaurants and shops. The hotel is in desparate need of a facelift. The rooms are extremely dated. Chocolate brown carpeting. Toilet in a room quite a distance from where the bedroom area is. Long dark hallway from bed area to the toilet room. The breakfast was very nice in the morning with lots of selection and friendly staff. Overall good experience. If they spent some money on fixing up the place it has the potential to be excellent. Weird tall vases in hallway with awful plastic fake flowers. Very small television. I could go on.......but at the end of the day great location, friendly staff, great location and reasonably priced with a nice breakfast.

I would give it 3 stars
great location, we were on top floor, vent in ceiling made a noise all night, worse if windy outside. beds were very soft had to ask for teabags, they were never checked on a daily basis bathroom mirror light, bulb required replacing which was not done during our stay lights attached to bed were not dusted properly All the above can be addressed and resolved fairly quickly, housekeeping lacking, should have a check list. It should not be up to the guest to inform the hotel.

Great Hotel; Poor Room
The staff was very informative and friendly. Service we requested was excellent. The hot and cold breakfast buffet was great. Our "Deluxe" room, however, was a major disappointment. The bed was so close to the bathroom that we could only open the door an 1/8 of way, and walk in sideways. The interior wooden beams on the other side were also so close that we could not walk around the bed. And the shower stall had no shelves at all to place soap, shampoo, razors, etc. So they went on the floor. Extremely poorly designed room. Would strongly recommend booking a "Superior" room instead.

Alkmaar 'Little Amsterdam'
If you like Amsterdam you will definitely love Alkmaar (aka lil' Amsterdam). Been to Alkmaar several times it has everything that the big city has. The hotel is located in the heart of the town, a very short walking distance to the bars, restaurants, canals, tourist attractions and to the nearby railway station. The hotel was good choice very reasonable price, very clean, good sized rooms with large bathrooms with all associated facilities. A good choice of hotel.. Recommended ++++

Good location in the centre of Alkmaar. Hotel has a nice bar and everything around is in walking distance. Room is very simple, but well done. Shower and amenities are very poor and the towels are very small. The pillows of the bed are of the worst quality and size. (Square)and I did not sleep well. Breakfast very simple and I expected a bit more. All in all an OK hotel, but I prefer another one..

Way Above Average Boutique Hotel
Walk, bicycle, train, or automobile it is easy to get to. Location, Location, Location! It is in the middle of everything, Alkmaar. The center of medieval history, shopping, museums, restaurants, and friends.

Alkmaar was fantastic and the hotel was very nice and ina great location. Terrific breakfast. Public parking very close nearby. We were there for the Saturday market, for Shopping Night, and for the Blues Music weekend. Great fun! And such a great base for exploring North Holland too

Nice hotel in the old city
Beautifully restored old building in the centre of Alkmaar with a nice bar. Stayed at the same time as the fair. Basically excellent, but slightly annoyingly, no toiletries in one of the rooms I booked for the family, and didn't notice this til we'd come back from dinner at 11pm

Very nice hotel in central Alkmaar
Perfectly located in central Alkmaar. Beautiful hotel and we stayed in a lovely room with a view overlooking the entire city. Some things to note about the hotel: 1. You have to check out the remote for the AC unit, which they didn't tell us at check-in, so we had to go back downstairs and ask about it. 2. There was a beam in the room that made the room look gorgeous, however the placement of the bed under the beam made head-smacks VERY LIKELY. This would be very easy to avoid with a simple repositioning. 3. There was a loud carnival in town the night we stayed here. The carnival in town was, of course, not the hotels fault. However, it would have been REALLY NICE if the hotel had offered complimentary ear plugs for guests with rooms overlooking the noisy streets. It was very difficult to fall asleep with the revellers just outside our room until 1 a.m.! 4. The Wi-Fi didn't require a passcode, so all the carnival goers were using it - and it was VERY SLOW. Overall, however, we really loved our experience here. The staff was really friendly. The bike parking was great. The luggage storage for our bike tour was handled graciously and kindly. There is a restaurant/bar in the hotel, but we didn't visit it so I cannot comment on the quality. The complimentary breakfast buffet was one of the better ones that we experience in our two week tour of The Netherlands.

One Night in Alkmaar
Stayed for one night on 29th. February. The hotel was very nice, clean and warm rooms (I hate the cold). Comfortable bed for a good night sleep and nice self service breakfast. The area around the hotel is very pleasant.Lots of bars and restaurants near by Must be lovely here in the summer.

Character Hotel in Great Location
The public areas were smart with plenty of character. I had a lovely big room (103) at the front. It was a little noisy at night, so light sleepers might prefer a back-facing room. It was extremely warm in the room, which I liked but might be a problem for the less cold-blooded. Nice touches were a coffee-maker and fridge. The bed was very comfortable, although the I did find the pillows great for lounging on but too deep for sleeping and had to use a folded towel instead. There was a good choice at breakfast, including smoked salmon. The cheese market area with lots of restaurants is about a 5 minute stroll. It will definitely be back.

Excellent location and comfortable hotel.
We enjoyed our stay. We were only there for one night, but the staff made us very welcome and were very helpful when we needed to leave our bags there during the day. Breakfast was good and the surroundings were very tasteful. Candles and fresh flowers on the table. The restaurant looked lovely although we didn't eat there. Alkmaar is an interesting town, especially on a Friday morning when the cheese market takes place. The hotel is so close to everything. We hired bikes later to cycle out to the coast which was easy and good fun.

Vriendelijke personeel kamer was netjes en schoon. Behalve er kon geen raam open op de kamer dus lekker benauwd. Ontbijt was zeer matig. Weinig keuze. Niet eens witbrood. Ei was zeer en ook zeer droog! Te duur vergeleken met wat je krijgt. Ook het parkeren is 10x niks. 1e parkeergarage vol dus naar de tweede , waar je vervolgend "verplicht" moet staan want anders betaal je geen 15 euro voor een hele dag maar constant 2 euro per uur omdat je even weg gaat en weer opnieuw moet betalen. Alles met alles matig.
