“The kids keep asking to return to Holiday Valley!”
Wonderful place! Quiet, clean, scenic!
“great spot”
great family friendly spot to enjoy holiday valley ski slopes.
“Very pleasant stay”
The only complaint that I have is that the beds were supposed to be queens and they were doubles. Had I noticed it before bed, I would have requested another room, but I didn't notice until bed (we had been out all day). The room was nice, the staff was nice, the location was good. I would go back and stay again.
“ski in, ski out, very convenient”
This is a fine hotel, ideal for ski in and ski out. The only thing a bit disappointing is the breakfast. There was not much of a selection of food. Everything else is fine.
“Not really ski-in/ski-out but nice enough”
Overall, a pleasant stay, but there were some issues. 1. They claim to be ski-in/ski-out, which is partially true. However, you cannot lock or unlock the rear doors of your room that you are supposed to use to ski-in/ski-out. So either you leave your room unlocked all day or at least ONE PERSON stay in the room to lock after everyone else has skied out, and has to trudge around the long way. Same coming back. Would be simple & cheap fix to make the back doors unlockable by the same key as the ski closets, but they do not have this. 2. My back door handle kept coming off. I reported this to the clerk the night I arrived, and maintenance never came in the 4 days we were there. Not very good on the follow through. 3. Wifi was down in my building when I arrived. I also reported this (to the same Front Desk person as in #2). It was still down in the AM, and when I re-reported it to the Front Desk, they did not seem to have contacted IT yet, nor even know about the issue. It did get fixed later that 2nd day. The plusses: Very nice lockable ski closet outside and nice area inside the room (with tiled floor) with bench for taking off boots, etc. Once WIFI came up, it worked well. Free breakfast is nice, but most days it was just a starch (french toast, waffles, etc.). Only one day did they have eggs & sausage. Also, no fresh fruit except apples. Good coffee and tea selection. The skiing at Holiday Valley is wonderful -- best place on the "East Coast"!
“Look forward to going back!”
Front desk staff member was very enthusiastic, energetic, positive and helpful! Kids loved the view of the ski lift/hill from room door and we saw a family of deer going up the hill after the lift closed for the night--just feet from outside out door! Was a wonderful treat. Restaurant had great service and food up the hill. Sad that the mountain coaster was closed for maintenace.
“location was great for skiing”
Overall, the hotel was nice. Great location to stay to ski at Holiday Valley. From the staff to the continental breakfast, everything was up to standards.
“Great deal in a resort area”
Nice indoor/outdoor pool and plenty of seating for breakfast.
“great hotel with nearby lift and breakfast”
hotel was great. we did find out upon checking in that if we had called the hotel directly we would have been able to get a better deal (lower room rate and lift ticket combo) according to the woman working at the front desk. next time we will call the hotel directly to check rates. the hotel had a lift right next to it so was super convenient. the breakfast was simple but good (instant oatmeal, cereals, bagels, eggs, juices, coffee, etc)
“First Visit”
*the hotel was very clean, as were the grounds around the hotel *breakfast was brought to our room on time *the pool was clean and warm as was the hot tub outside *we were unable to use the sauna as it was NOT working (I did report this to reception) *the staff answered all of our questions efficiently *I did not get the room that I had booked. I requested a room with a fireplace. *We stayed on a Monday night, and the hotel was by no means full. The receptionist tried to place us in a room at the front facing the street and parking lot. I asked for a room that had a nature view, and we were given a room that had a hill RIGHT outside our window, which made it dark, and I felt that I was in a basement. This was our first visit to Ellicottville, and the town was nice, as were your hiking trails.
