“economical place to lay your head”

pool needs cleaned, there was black scum around the water line. The breakfast bar is lacking. There is a strange odor in the lobby.

Area recommendations

Any area of town is fine. A visit to the marine museum is nice and it is free. North of town on U.S. 23 there are a couple go cart & mini golf parks but the one furest North has bumper cars, Ferris Wheel, Batting Cages and a Driving Range. Also take time to stop at Duck Park and walk around the Island.

Dining

On Tuesdays the Big Boy resturant on Ripley St. sells Lud's Gaint Burgers. These are a popular through back to the Lud's chain of resturants which were a local favorite.

“Not satisfied”

The hotel is old and needs to be refurbished. Carpets dirty, linens worn and shabby...we had to try three rooms before we found one that would at least be minimally acceptable. The staff tries hard, but the facilities are just worn out.

This was a very clean hotel, they maintain it very well. Staff was very friendly & very helpful.

Be sure to check out the museums in the area, also only a hour and a half to Mackinaw Island

“Certainly use this hotel again”

Spacious room, very clean, large bathroom, nice pool area, good location, easy to find, friendly and helpful staff. We really enjoyed our stay. Front desk staff very helpful with information for things to do in the area. We had great fun!

“Great Family hotel”

Very large hotel...lots of rooms with a pool and hot tub (we were unable to use those facilities due to the number of children at the hotel) Rooms are good size and comfortable.

“A cold welcome”

I'm used to heaters not being on when I first get there, but they usually have thermostats, and this one didn't. It was either on, or off, and that wasn't acceptable. I had to get up in the middle of the night to turn off the heat, then get back up and turn it on again in the morning. Other than that, not a bad room.

Just a small city with lots of strip malls and a quaint main street.

“Great Hotel for the Price”

I liked the overall cleaniness of the room. It was pretty roomy also which we enjoyed. The breakfast in the morning was handy for getting something quick. Service was good.

“Beds were not too comfortable, A/C didn't work well.”

The beds felt similar to sleeping on springs...not very much padding at all. The A/C did not blwo out and said "needs maintainence." Luckily it wasn't too hot at night, so that didn't matter much. Woke up feeling sore from the mattress. Not sure if all the beds are like that, but ours were. The continental breakfast was nice. Cereal, bagels, donuts, muffins, toast, english muffin, waffles, oatmeal, orange and apple juice, milk, coffee. It was very affordable and a free breakfast is always nice.

Traveler's tip

Ossineke beach/Sanborn park isn't too far away. They had playgrounds and a clean beach. We could bring the dog too.
