Good, clean hotel with pleasant staffPosted Feb 9, 2014
Pros: Nice, helpful staff. Clean hotel. Good breakfast. Reasonably priced.
This is a nice, clean hotel. It's not the most modern and it's certainly 'no frills', and it has a slightly dated feel. However, we found very helpful staff, a very clean room, and a good breakfast - and all at a reasonable price. If you're using a sat nav. to locate the road on which the hotel is located, after going through Morzine and reaching the road itself at a roundabout, the hotel is to the left, down the hill. If you turn right, you quickly get into a fairly narrow road with not much sign of life!

A warm welcome for a cold hotel.Posted Feb 3, 2014
Pros: Close to a bus stop. This was important as the ski lifts were too far to walk in ski boots. Plenty of hot water for the small bath. Good ski storage.
Cons: Lighting in corridors. Decor modernised. Central heating upgrade. Reception staffed. Written detailed information on buses. Bracket for shower.
I was warmly welcomed, but overall was disappointed by this budget hotel. All the radiators were just warm and the hotel was generally cold. The pillows and duvet were thin. Hardly any guests were in the dining room for an evening meal.

Good Value 2 star hotelPosted Mar 2, 2013
Location: As described. We had a car to get to lift stations. Ski bus 100yds away. Not walkable to lifts but fine for town/restaurants.
Typical French 2 star hotel. We were given the type of room as requested. Breakfast a bit pricey for what you got - scrambled eggs always cold, but good coffee. The owner (I presume) was not very welcoming. Previous reviews accurate.

A hidden top value gemPosted Feb 14, 2013 on Hotels.com
Not an extra-luxury hotel but excellent value for money. This hotel is on convenient bus/navette routes making its distance from the town centre not a problem. Not so easy for after dark excursions. Set 5-course meal (gigot d'agneau) was enjoyable. This hotel has plenty of parking and a mainly french clientele.

Great Ski breakPosted Jan 8, 2013
Cons: blankets were a bit flimsy
The younger staff downstairs were fantastic. We stayed there to ski Porte du Soleil and for this, it's perfect. There is a free bus outside the door that takes you to the Prodain Telecabin so it's extremely convenient. The real 'secret' tip is the restaurant though. The service is great and the food is delicious. Would return.

great locationPosted Aug 22, 2012 on Hotels.com
We were made very welcome, At this Family Run Hotel our French is not so good! but they spoke enough English. Our son is working in Morzine & was made welcome to join us for what was a very generous Breakfast of meats, Cheese, bread, jams, cakes, Cereals, yogurt, to name a few of the many items on offer. Lovely Clean room & crisp white sheets, a very nice pool area, & our son was also welcome to join us to use that aswell. Even after we had checked out, as our flight was late that day we were still able to use the pool area, which was lovely as the weather was so hot. We had a wonderful 2 day break.

Hotel Le Soly Varnay - MorzinePosted Feb 24, 2012 on Hotels.com
I stayed here for a week at the beginning of February, taking advantage of some superb snow conditions. Having booked at the last minute, I was expecting the hotel to be really basic. I was pleasantly surprised to find a cheap, clean, comfortable, well run and friendly hotel a few minutes walk from the Town centre, and right on a ski bus route. For a Two Star hotel I would definately recommend this, and if available (with such good snow conditions) would happily book another last minute stay.
