You must check in at the diner across the parking lot. Strange place in need of repair.

Staying in sleepy West Texas

Posted Jun 17, 2014 on Hotels.com
My daughter and I stayed here bringing her back from college in TX home in Phoenix. We wanted to see the sights in artsy Marfa (about a half hour drive and worth the trip). Alpine is a safe town from the east of Marfa, with a nice historical small town, some small restaurants and is home to a state university. While the desk and diner (right next door) service was friendly and the included breakfast very down-home with the best hash browns and lean bacon I have had anywhere, there was only a lukewarm shower in the morning and the air conditioner strained to get out barely cool air. Otherwise, the sheets and towels were clean, there was a small refrigerator, the evening time quiet. While this is a simple, non-chain place, for the price, if I was visiting Alpine I would stay here. If you are seeking the Marfa lights at night, just be ready for the drive. Staying at the Alpine Inn if you are driving West for your destination, you MUST see the quaint and stately Hotel Paisano (hdqtrs for the movie "Giant") and try the only pizza place in town on the Main Street. The owners are from the East Coast and it was the most authentic Italian pizza I have had west of the Mississippi served in a kitschy converted gas station, with customers from all over the US.

Bafely good enough foe a one night stay.

This is a run down motel that is in great need of remodeling. It is used as a train crew motel and has a separate "rec room' for the crews which you pass through to get to your room and you must endure the stares of the crews as you pass by. I wouldn't want my wife or kids to have pass through the room. I do not recommend this motel and if I hadn't had non-refundable reservations, I would have gone to one of several motels in the area.

Free breakfast a plus

Bathroom could have been a little cleaner, but I understand the water has a high level of iron in it. Overall a nice place to stay.

This hotel is not bad at all.

Check in was easy even though it's in the diner. Room was clean and a/c worked great. If you don't need luxury accommodations and are traveling with a pet then I would have no problem recommending this hotel.

Good Value - Great Continental Breakfast

The bed was extremely firm. OK for me but if you prefer something softer stay somewhere else. Great continental breakfast, made to order, in the adjacent diner. I would stay there again.

You get what you pay for

For the low price, it was good. No front desk, you check in-out at restaurant, and though the room was clean the overall building needs maintenance.

Pros: Nothing!
Cons: Everything!
We had 2 rooms reserved one smelled like cigarette smoke (it is supposed to be no smoking) and the other room smelled of mold. The bath tub was dirty and full of mold. The beds were way too firm. The hotel claims to be sound proof......I think not. This was awful and I will not stay there again!
