Nice for an overnight.

Pros: Breakfast with waffles, eggs, biscuits and gravy, yogurt. Yum!
Cons: No stairs or elevator by pool/lobby.
Very nice breakfast. Pool was small but warm. There is no elevator or mid-hotel stairs so you have to walk clear to the end then back to the middle of the second floor. Topeka got a big snow storm that night and the walkways were not cleared by checkout time so it was messy getting packed up to leave.

Everything was great except the in room air/heat unit. It worked fine but did not keep the room an even temperature and was quite loud each time it went on.

Pretty good for the most part...

The hotel is very clean, staff helpful...except when we returned after a long day of sightseeing, we discovered at 6:30 p.m. that no one had come to make up the bed or replace bath mat, and washcloths. Thankfully, we used few towels, but the bathmat was still on the floor. When I spoke to the desk clerk, she was surprised, thought we had left a "do not disturb" sign on the door, which we did not do. Since there was no maid service, she volunteered to come up later in the evening to make up the bed for us, since there were quite a few people checking in. Since we were leaving in the morning, decided to "make do," and straightened coverlet, sheets, etc. Still would recommend this hotel if we go back.

Pros: breakfast, ease of checking in and out and rooms were decorated tastfully, beds comfy. Quiet location.
Cons: Bathroom was in poor condition around the shower and toilet needed to be bolted to the floor better and the toilet seat also needed to be more secure.
Location: Easy to get to and quiet
Perfect location if going to the fair, Prairie Meadows and Adventureland. Breakfast was very good and had alot of choices.

Very nice.

Very friendly staff. On the Internet it said it had a deluxe breakfast, so I expected a little more than the traditional free breakfast, but it wasn't. It was adequate though. The rate was pretty high compared to another very nice Best Western I had previously stayed at in Ohio.

Across the street from Adventureland exit!

Pros: The coziest pillows and the automatic pancake maker.
Cons: Not a lot of counter space in the bathroom.
Location: Across the street from the Adventureland exit.
We stayed at this hotel because we live out of state and we were going to Adventureland. It is located across the street from the exit. You can easily walk to Adventureland to avoid paying to park. The rooms felt a little on the small side, but we were only there to sleep. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Each room had a mini fridge and a microwave. This hotel is smoke free and we never had a hint of smoke smell (and we have allergies, so we would have noticed). The pool water was warm, but it not a very large pool. The kids were happy to play in it, just the same. The TV had a beautiful picture with a large selection of channels. The beds were above average and the pillows felt like your head was sleeping on a cloud. Each bed had 4 pillows, so I was able to use 2 of them to make a "wall" so my 3 year old wouldn't roll out of the bed. The breakfast was very good and the staff was continuously refilling the items all the way until 9am. There is not a lot of room around the counters to get your breakfast, but as I said, the selection was great and my kids loved the automatic pancake maker (it makes 2 pancakes in about 1 minute). If your looking for a place to sleep after a full day, I would highly recommend!

The Best Stay at the Best Western Altoona Inn
Posted Jan 11, 2012
Pros: Favorites about this hotel were the friendly staff, cookies and popcorn, good continental breakfast and well equipped rooms that were clean.
Cons: Can't think of anything-it suited our purpose just fine.
Location: The location was fine easy to find.
We had a reservation for Friday night June 8th, 2012. We arrived earlier on Friday afternoon than we expected and asked if we could check in early. The woman at the front desk was friendly and helpful and found a room for us right away. The rooms are well equipped with items you might have forgotten to bring. That evening we wanted to go out for dinner. There were two women at the front desk that were very helpful, suggesting places that they were familiar with that they knew were nice clean restaurants with good food. They gave us directions and good warm cookies for the road trip there. They also had fresh popped popcorn that smelled good and was good. The cleaning staff was very nice and friendly also. The front desk and the cleaning staff told us if we needed anything just to let them know. The vending machines were well stocked and reasonably priced. The continental breakfast had a lot of good fresh selections. We had a very pleasant stay.
