The hotel was so so. The room smelled, the accommodations were outdated and a rusty sink basin. It was a place to lay your head. The breakfast wasn't much to speak of. Pretty basic and generic, I think the accommodations reflected the value we paid.

The 3pm - 11pm front desk attendant was very pleasant and helpful, but the day attendant was nasty and hateful. She called accusing me of having too many people in my room, even though it was just me, my mother, and 2 children. She said she saw more than that enter my room. When I told her who was with me, she proceeded to inform me that my 16 and 17 year old girls were "adults", not "children", and that she would have to speak with management about it. I didn't hear back from her. Around 8:30 that night we started hearing pounding like a hammer and noises like furniture was being moved around on the 2nd floor. After finally getting someone to answer at the front desk after my third call, I was informed that maintenance was working on some empty rooms. I ended up having to call back and ask them to please stop so we could go to sleep; we had an appointment early the next morning. The next day I went looking for the ice machine. After not being able to find it, I drove around to the office and asked where it was. I was informed that it was "back here" in the office and if I wanted some ice, I would need to bring my ice bucket back from my room (on the other side of the lot mind you!). I will definitely book somewhere else the next time I make a trip to Altoona.

DisappointingPosted Oct 27, 2013
Pros: Location convenience.
Cons: Cleanliness of room & replace/update.
Location: Penn State, Altoona
We have stayed at this particular EconoLodge before & were pleased but when we checked in to our room it was very dusty everywhere; bathtub mat was moldy; wallpaper was peeling;parts of door molding missing; blanket on bed (under bedspread) was thread-beared.

Disappointed in room location.Posted Oct 24, 2013
Pros: The rooms were cleaned daily and fresh towels were supplied. They have microwave , refrigerator, and a coffee pot in them.
Cons: The staff's attitude and their so called breakfast.
Location: Horseshoe curve was beautiful and lots of shopping . I spent most of my time in Altoona Hospital for test that needed done before surgery.
We needed a first floor room because we both have physical problems and use canes for assistance walking. As advised I called to verify a first floor room and was told we would be in room 151 on the ground floor with one step onto the side walk in front of our room. This was okay for us. When we arrived the lady that checked us in handed us room key cards for room 103. I told her we were suppose to be in 151 and that I had called to verify that ahead of time .I was told that we were changed to 103 because the last person stayed longer than they had booked for. I asked if it was on the ground floor and was told that there were only three steps up to our room. I told her we couldn't do steps very well and were told they didn't have another room, but that when room 161 was empty the next day she would clean it and we could move into it. She didn't offer to help take our bags up the steps or move them the next day. That is the hard part, moving in and moving out. We went into room 103 and stayed there. There were no parking spaces in front of this room and we parked by the office I had to get out of bed at night and move it . The area didn't have no parking signs but that didn't matter to them. I would not recommend this motel for anyone with special needs. The continental breakfast was awful. the waffles tasted sour as if they were spoiled and the lady in the office was not very nice to deal with. She was not very helpful and was down right nasty at times. We ate at Perkins !

YUCK!!! Too tired to drive home or would have.Posted Oct 19, 2013
Pros: Nothing, it was the only one available that weekend.
Room was stuffy and stale smelling. Furnishings were dated and worn/ stained.I would not sit on apolstered chairs. We used one chair as a measure of privacy as curtain wouldn"t hang closed and the other againts outside door because there was a 1/4 inch gap at the lower end of door, when closed.bathroom tub/shower NOT clean ie: hairs, soap scum, dingy. Bedding smelled clean but was spotted and drab.Breakfast bar very unappatizing.Worst coffee.

OKAY ROOM FOR THE PRICEPosted Oct 8, 2013
Pros: Location, room rate and staff...and the beds were very comfortable and clean. Surprisingly good tasting coffee and delcious waffles (made from batter)
Cons: Considering the age of the motel...nothing.
Location: Penn State 30 minutes north, historic "Horseshoe Curve" is nearby and interesting, plenty of shopping, food places on same road as motel.
Two story 1970s motel on the highway. If you just need an inexpensive room for the night it is good, clean (no bugs, dirt, mildew), although our smoke free room obviously had smokers somewhere along the line. It's not a "dive" but it isn't a room for the overly materialistic crowd. The motel is in a good, safe location with plenty of shopping and restaurants nearby. Hotel staff (one person named Heather) was terriffic, personable, and very helpful with check in, providing area map and directions.

You get what you pay forPosted Sep 24, 2013
You get what you pay for. Sheets here were dirty/stained, ants were crawling around the sink, paint is chipped and beds are old and very uncomfortable. Thankfully I was only there one night but if regardless, that's all I was going to stay for anyway.

nastyPosted Aug 29, 2013 on Hotels.com
I looked online at several hotels in the Altoona area as I was going for a mini vacation there with my family. The room and hotel looked very nice and clean. However, when we checked into our room it was a different story. The bathroom was the worst!!! The tile for the tub surround was coming undone and they just quickly calked it up which left the tile buldging out of the wall. The calking around the tub was NASTY!!!! There was mold all over the calking and just very unpleasant. We stayed two days total. On the second day I went to retrieve a washcloth to soak up some water from my kids and found that it had been used from a previous person and had lipstick on it. GROSS!!!! This place is nothing but nasty!!!! When checking out the next day I noticed a picture above the desk with a nice drawing of the hotel and parking lot. That drawing was NOTHING like the actual hotel. This place was so disgusting. I can tell that the manager and employees do not take pride in their jobs as this would show in these rooms. I used to be a maid for a hotel and also at a bed and breakfast. Even in the cheap motel I worked in there was more pride in the cleanliness than this place showed. I will NEVER stay at another Econo Lodge again! Extremely disappointed!!!!!
