Great location with some quirks

Posted May 31, 2015
Pros: The location, the staff and the complimentary drink coupons were a plus.
Cons: The lighting, and beds that don't separate when somebody sleeps in the middle. I would definitely add a coffee maker.
Location: Shopping, eating sightseeing.
You can't beat the location in old town Salzburg and the staff is great. Quirks: getting back and forth to your room can be a challenge. There is no direct route. We got totally turned around the first time we tried to leave our room and exit the hotel. We had to up and down several flights of stairs, find the correct elevator or (they don;t all go to all floors) then outside to a court yard then inside to either the restaurant or the reception area. Inside the room we could not leave just the bedside lamps on. Despite many on-off switches it was all or nothing as far as lights go. On the other hand this was probably the biggest European hotel room and bathroom we've ever seen. It was more like a mini-suite. There is no coffee maker in the room but there was a servi-bar/refrigerator.

Beautiful hotel right in Altstadt.

Posted May 31, 2015
The location was outstanding and the hotel was well appointed for a small hotel! Most of the staff was friendly and courteous, but not all. For such a great room the shower was marginal.

Great Room in Old Town Salzburg

Posted May 15, 2015
Pros: Location is great, room is very nice. Takes you to another world for your stay. Good value.
Cons: The keys are a little bulky to carry around in your pocket.
Location: Right near the heart of Salzburg. Just walk out of your door to see anything you came to see.
We were driving, which complicates getting into old town. GPS got us to the hotel check-in entrance, but we could not recognize the entrance. It took 3 drives around the river to figure this out. Best to talk to the hotel staff before getting to Salzburg if you are driving. The room we had was awesome. The hotel was upgraded, but still have the feel of a building and establishment from hundreds of years ago. Our room was very large, include King bed sitting are, desk area and TV. It also had an entry room about 8x10, and a large bathroom, with double sink and bode. Walking out of the front door takes one into the heart of Old Town Salzburg. Stores, Cafes, restaurants, historic sites and entertainment. Every day had new, fun excursions.

Comfort and Austrian style in a great location

Posted Apr 26, 2015
Pros: Great location, quiet, stylish
Cons: the decor in the cafe is, perhaps a bit stark
This hotel is in a very central location; a great place to explore the Old town, and within easy walking distance of all the cultural sights. The staff were charming, efficient and helpful. Our room was clean, spacious and well appointed, quiet at night and with a good bathroom. The decor is understated in Austrian style. Fixtures and fittings are high quality - e.g. lovely brown marble floors in many areas. We did not try the food as there are so many wonderful and varied restaurants and cafes near.

Hübsches Hotel in Altstadt-Nähe mit schöner Aussic

Posted Apr 19, 2015
Pros: Zimmer

Salzburg 2015 Tour

Posted Apr 7, 2015
Pros: Location and the hotel staff. Nice sitting area downstairs.
Cons: Just a refresh of the rooms and a cooling system.
The Hotel is located in the old city of Salzburg within walking distance of everything that Salzburg has to offer. The hotel staff was very helpful and extremely friendly. Our room was on the third floor and was fairly large. The room is a bit worn and needed some updating. Although this is very a minor complaint and in no way did it take away from the trip, the hard wood floors had scratches and some of the furniture was in need of replacement. One thing to note is that the room is not air conditioned, which during the end of March you would think would not be a problem, but the rooms did get uncomfortably hot even after turning off the radiator. We left our windows opened during the night to cool down the room. There is a bar downstairs in the lobby area which had a nice sitting area to sit and enjoy a drink after a long day of touring the city. One thing to note if you are driving a car is that the hotel does not have a its own parking lot. Therefore, you will need to stop on the bus lanes in front of the hotel on to unload your luggage. Don't worry about getting a traffic ticket; the city does allow you to park there for ten minutes to unload. There is a parking garage within a five minute walk to park your car. I believe the fee was 20 Euros per day. Which is not bad.

Great hotel in the center of the old city

Posted Mar 16, 2015
Pros: The staff was very accomodating
The Radisson Blu Altstadt Hotel exceeded our expectations. Upon arrival, we received a room upgrade from a basic room to a suite. The room was large and comfortable. The hotel itself was right in the heart of the old city and within walking distance from almost all of the sights and restaurants. If you are traveling by car, parking is a 3 minute walk from the hotel, however make sure to have the hotel stamp your parking ticket before retrieving your vehicle. The parking area charges approximately 20 euro per 24 hrs, however it will cost you approximately 2 euro if you have the hotel stamp your parking ticket. I would highly recommend this hotel.
