room smelled really bad, ask for a different room and the front desk lady stated since I booked the room online I would have to deal with it.

Decent motel in tiny, remote town

Posted Oct 26, 2014
Pros: Good bed, good vanity table setup, good lighting.
Cons: No train whistle at 3 a.m. would help. Hotel needs an outlet near the work table. I couldn't get the AC or hearing unit to work -- not even the fan.
Location: Only a few restaurants. I had a good dinner at the Italian place. Not much else in town.
Alturas isn't the end of the world . . . but you can see it from there.

Übernachtungsstop auf der Durchreise!

Posted Sep 27, 2014
Pros: Raucherzimmer mit 2 Queen-Betten!
Cons: Auswahl an Rauchzimmern erweitern!

First Decompression

Stopped here on the way home from Butning Man. It was a god send. We showered, and slept for many hours and headed out the next morning. The staff was supper friendly and was inquisitive about the burn. Planning on staying there again next year.

Considering that you are in a small town...

Posted Sep 6, 2014 on Hotels.com
Very nice for such a small town. Very small, cramped breakfast area, but very clean and extremely nice owner! We got a handicapped room for my mom. They opened up the room next door and combined the two. 1 bathroom had a beautiful handicapped shower. My mom said it was the best shower she's had in 6 months! But the sink was in the shower room instead of the bathroom with the toilet, which was a little inconvenient. There were no carpets, a huge plus for a wheelchair. Sure hope the owners will put 1 bed in one room and 1 bed in the other so it's not so cramped on one side and open on the other. For an overnight stay it was wonderful.

A good place to stay the night

Posted Sep 2, 2014
We stayed here twice, once on the way to Black Rock City, and once on the way home. The first stay was uncomfortable, because there was an unpleasant odor of cleaner, and the climate controller was quite noisy. We should have turned it off, but used earplugs instead. Our second stay was much better. We were in a different room, which had no noticeable odors, and we turned off the climate controller, so it was very quiet. The continental breakfast was good, although lacking in protein and heavy on the carbs. No eggs or cheese, but they had nice rolls, waffles, cereal with milk. I've stayed in many places, and would give them a solid "3". They're not a 5 star hotel, but they are a good place to stay the night during your travel from one place to another.

Alturas

There is not much to see or do in Alturas. The room itself had a smell but a little air freshener did the trick. It was an okay hotel if you are just passing through and need a place to sleep.
