Stockholm, the national capital, is located 50 miles (80 kilometers) to the south of Alunda.
From perennial tourist favourites to still-undiscovered gems, Lake Malaren is dotted with fabulous attractions. Places within a relatively short distance of Alunda are Snesslinge, 19 miles (31 kilometers) to the south, and Gamla Uppsala, 19 miles (31 kilometers) to the northeast.
Around 20 miles (32 kilometers) to the southwest of Alunda is Uppsala, a regional center where you go see Uppsala Concert and Congress, Kungshamn-Morga Nature Reserve and Gustavianum Museum. Upplandsmuseet, Kabo Golf Club and Pelle Svanslos House are other good spots to visit.
Spend the time to really get to know Lake Malaren by learning about its history. An enjoyable place to start is by visiting the area's historic historic palaces.
When the weather is right, make like a local and head to the region's waterways for a morning of fishing or swimming.
Learning some of the language is the simplest way to bridge the cultural divide, so why not practice a handful of common Swedish words and phrases before you arrive. "Vill du dansa med mig?" means "Would you like to dance with me?" "Varifrån kommer du?" means "Where are you from?"
Sadly, vacations rarely last forever, but be rest assured, when it's time to leave Lake Malaren, rest assured, you'll have special memories and keepsakes to keep forever.
