Beautiful property. We were upgraded free of charge and the room did not disappoint. Very spacious with a beautiful ocean view. Free breakfast was spectacular and suitable for all. Free shuttle service to and from town and the drivers were super friendly. Will recommend to family and friends who are traveling to the Amalfi Coast.

Do not expect service. The manager is nasty and he happens to be the owner and presents himself as the reservations manager. . Dishonest Bring your own tissue box. Bring your own lotion and print your own toilet paper. Don’t expect service from the bar. Don’t expect any pleasant front desk staff. They are miserable and rude and certainly have no business being in the hospitality business. Nothing hospitable about this piece of misery. And his help you if you order eggs. They have to call a manager to take your order for a breakfast Buffett you paid for. Dispicable especially the multi millionaire owner Lorenzo. Upon check in he wanted to give us an upgrade for xxxx euros extra per night. When we looked at the room it was the exact identical room we had. The only difference was new paint ! When we declined the offer he became hostile and said “this is very unpleasant “ and I wished you didn’t come to my property. Granted we have been traveling Europe for a month and spent over 75k. Two couples. My spouse and I and my sister and I. They were beyond rude. We requested an early check out. They said no problem we will refund your last two nights. Guess what. They lied and refuse to issue the refund. After they told all 4 of us of course we will issue refund.

This should not be a four star hotel... it should a five star hotel!! The staff at this hotel is so sweet, receptive, and efficient. The food at the hotel was so amazing. Even the drivers of the shuttle were friendly and hilarious! I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Beautiful scenery as well. 10/10 experience.

Decent stay atop Amalfi. Confusion with cleaning ladies left me without contacts, a little frustrating the town shuttle service. They could have staffed it better with a full hotel.

This hotel is everything I hoped it would be and more. The view from the balcony is breathtaking. The hotel is clean and offers a free shuttle every 30 minutes to the city center. The staff are all very friendly. It checked all the boxes and I would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful hotel build high on the cliffs overlooking Amalfi harbor. Our room was large with a huge terrace with a spectacular view of the sea. The room was a bit dated but very nice and comfortable. The hotel had all the amenities you would want when staying in the hills of Amalfi; elevator, ac, parking, shuttle to town and private beach club, beautiful pool, great bar and restaurant and the food was very good. The service and staff were great! I look forward to going back!

Spectacular views above Amalfi. Restaurant gourmet food reasonably priced. Stunning pool and terrace. Staff super helpful and friendly. Shuttle bus and private beach topped it.

This is one of the very best hotels I have ever stayed in (and I travel a lot). The facilities are excellent. There is a frequent shuttle bus into Amalfi. A beautiful pool and terrace. I really enjoyed the first class food in the restaurant. The hotel is also only a short walk from the next small village with dining options. The very best thing was the staff who ( with one exception) were truly wonderful and extremely helpful. The exception was the breakfast restaurant Manageress, who was unhelpful, verging on rude. But I would not let her detract from a first class experience.

Excellent hotel with great amenities and wonderful view of Amalfi coast. Breakfast is great and we enjoyed dinner here. Staff is good but one bar staff was a bit rude to us. Other than that, everything was great and we will be back again.

The room we had was amazing. They just redid the floor we were on and it was just beautiful! The pool was great, the staff were awesome and the complimentary breakfast was one of the best we have ever had! They had a complimentary shuttle service that was great and always on time, since there is virtually no way to walk to the city center we were so high up. It was very peaceful and lovely. Would definitely go back!

The resort was beautiful and the views were even better. Our room was spacious with a wonderful balcony that overlooked the town and the sea. Food was very good. The staff and drivers were wonderful, very convenient to have a shuttle back and forth to the city center and private beach! The private beach was lovely and very relaxing and had food and drinks served daily, was one of our favorite things about the resort. We definitely would come back here again.

Property is dated but clean and in a picturesque location. Shuttle to town was great. Not really walkable to anything. Bed is very hard and uncomfortable. We had a great stay and would recommend because of staff and views.

The property is a 10-15 min drive from Amalfi center, but there is an hourly free shuttle from the hotel to town. The hotel views are beautiful, the restaurant is reasonably priced with good menu and quality, and the staff are all terrific.

2.5 Star Hotel, 5 Star View
We had high hopes for this hotel, but were ultimately quite disappointed and actually ended up checking out a night early. The rooms were dated and the wifi was extremely spotty. Most of the time we could not connect to the wifi in our room. The bed was one of the hardest and most uncomfortable hotel beds I have ever experienced. The shower head was directed at your stomach, and the previous showerhead that no longer works was still there. Something was wrong with the drain, and we often were standing in the backed up shower water while we showered. Our room had a paper thin divider door to the room next to us and we could quite literally hear every word that they were saying. The hotel itself is quite difficult to get to and from, but thankfully they have an efficient and convenient shuttle service into Amalfi. The hotel itself is dated but pleasant enough. Breakfast selection was average. We had dinner one night at the hotel and it was okay. The pool was nice, but it is only open from 9:00 am-6:00 pm in the summer. We checked into the hotel at 5:40 pm, and when I asked if we could go to the pool, we were told no because it had been cleaned and closes at 6:00 pm. The keys were large and heavy pieces of brass. There was a spot to hang your key in the lobby, however, they were not secured and not always monitored by staff. We paid approx. $500 CAD per night. This hotel is not worth that price.

Fantastic hotel, views over Amalfi were stunning. Shuttle bus to take you into town ran hourly which was great to get in and out of the centre. Beach was lovely, with snack bar and drinks. Pool had views to die for and was lovely and relaxing. Staff were fantastic throughout, gave us plenty of restaurant recommendations and ever one was absolutely amazing we didn’t think they’d be able to top it! Can’t wait to visit again!

Wonderful vacation at Grand Hotel Excelsior
Overall, we loved the hotel. The service was amazing, views were incredible and the hotel was beautiful. The free shuttle service into Amalfi was very helpful. It was great to be away from the busy city but could get there anytime by shuttle bus. We also loved the morning breakfast. Food was great and views were so beautiful. The only negatives were the hallways need to be updated and the beds could use a better mattress, pillow and blankets. If those changes were made, I would give hotel a 5 star.

I don’t know how this property has 4 star rating, but it was very disappointing. As soon as we saw the property and our room, we wanted to leave immediately, but other hotels were sold out for that weekend. The hotel and rooms are very dated. The entire hotel needs to be remodel. Let’s start with the room, it was very old. The bed felt like a rock, no comforter, just thin sheets and most likely it had bed bugs. All of the hotels I stayed in Europe during my two week stay, I got bitten there. Another issue we came across, was the AC unit. The AC did not reach the entire room which it made it difficult to sleep and get ready. The first day we got there, the pool was close and the amenities close way to early. Although the hotel provided transportation to the go to downtown, we felt like it was very limited (Only ran every hour and did not have no late pick up). It cost us 50-60 Euros to get back to the hotel at night. The only thing, this hotel has it’s amazing views! The views are breathtaking. However, I would not recommend this hotel at all.

Website pics are far from the real condition of the building. Lot of feature rooms shown on website are non operational like pool bar cave etc so good luck if want a drink or snack u need to do a self serve marathon upstairs. POOL CLOSES @ 6pm so don’t expect to come home after a hot day site seeing & cool off cause pools stupidly closed in peak summer daylight saving. Very dissatisfied Needs a complete revamp only good thing was the Amalfi view & food

My wife and I visited Amalfi for the final leg of our honeymoon. We stayed for 5 nights at Grand Hotel Excelsior, and were very impressed by the level of service they provide. From the moment we arrived, the staff made every effort to help us, be it carrying bags, parking the car, showing us the layout of the hotel, explaining dining options/hours, and outlining the shuttle schedule. The bar service was excellent, filled with very attentive and kind bartenders. The food at the hotel restaurant was exceptional, and although we only ate there once, it would have been an easy decision to eat there every night. Overall, the amenities is what set this hotel apart. The pool and pool deck overlooking Amalfi is one of a kind, and unmatched. The shuttle to and from town is invaluable. And, above all, the private beach access is the crown jewel. We could have easily spent another week there. As for the hotel upkeep: the entire building is spotless, it is clear house keeping does an amazing job. The rooms could use a few small upgrades, mainly furniture and decor, as well as new lighting and carpeting in hallways; but these are minor in the grand scheme of all this hotel has to offer. We had an unforgettable time, and are very thankful to the staff for their above-and-beyond service.

This is a lovely 1960’s retro Italian hotel which hasn’t been renovated but nevertheless very charming. Location is quite isolated as the walk into the town of Almafi too dangerous and long. Hotel provides a shuttle to private beach and town though once an hour. The beds are very hard and I suggest they look into a mattress topper or new mattresses. Staff are pleasant and accommodating. The views are unbelievable and this is what makes the property worth staying if that is what you are after.
