Feels like a family-run hotel, not in a good way.Posted Sep 9, 2014
Astonishing views, as with most hotels in the area. The people who run the hotel work non-stop - the same people were working every day when we got up and went to bed. But there's a lack of professionalism. Our passports were taken from us, instead of just having photocopies made - the manager forgot to give these back to me on departure, so I had to remind him. The paid parking is at least a 5 minute walk away - fine unless you want to use the car a lot during your stay. Expedia listed parking as 10 euros a day. We were charged 20 euros a day, which the manager showed me to be the Venere-listed rate. I had to prove that my Expedia reservation listed the 10 euro rate. Checkout took an eternity whilst all the handwritten drinks from our stay were manually added up. We booked a triple room of 3 singles on Expedia. We were given a double and a single. This could not be rectified til the next day, when the double was simply split - I suspect we were given an incorrect room. The shower was temperamental. Some days we lost the ability to control the temperature - either boiling hot or cold. Towels were strange - like tablecloths, but I think that might be fairly common in Italy. The setting within Praiano is good, on the steps down to the sea (don't stay on the amalfi coast if you can't handle a lot of steps). Amazing views from room. It was a pretty reasonable price, so perhaps I'm being a tad harsh, but all I can do is give my honest views on return from holiday.

Bra läge men sämre servicePosted Sep 6, 2014 on Hotels.com

Fabulous hotel with view to die forPosted Jul 10, 2014
Smeraldo means emerald! This hotel is a jewel and is more than anyone could expect. The superior balcony room with spa on balcony in unbelievable! View across the coast the positano is a scene to only be imagined! Love love loved it and sad to leave. The village of Praiano is quiet. A refuge compared to positano and amalfi. Do it! Just go! Will never forget!

Nice Hotel, great view, & fabulous restaurantPosted Jun 11, 2014 on Hotels.com
We had two rooms reserved for one night, 7 people total. We arrived late after a long drive, and were greeted by the owner/manager who promptly took care of our luggage and parked the van. The manager's daughter offered to set us up for dinner in their restaurant while we got settled in the rooms. It was late so she arranged for several appetizers and pizza and wine, and we were served within a few minutes. The hotel was nice; we enjoyed a great view and refreshing swim in the fabulous Mediterranean sea, but the most memorable thing was the meal that night. It was way more than we expected, all 7 of us agreed that it was one our best meals ever. Very friendly, family run hotel. When shopping in the nearby shops the storekeepers all had compliments for the owners.

Bon emplacement, belle vue, bon restaurantPosted Feb 12, 2014
A recommander. Situé à 20m d'un accès au sentier des Dieux.

Beautiful view of the Amalfi coast.Posted Oct 7, 2013
Pros: I couldn't have asked for a better view from our balcony, room 105. And the restaurant patio also has this view.
Cons: Better maintenance and it would have been nice to have a mini fridge.
Location: Near Positano and not far from Sorrento. Walk the streets and take in the beautiful surroundings.
Just outside Positano we found the hotel on a narrow road with not much road space to unload our luggage from the car. I had to move the car a couple of times so that tour buses could get by. We had to wait past check-in time for our rooms. Our room had a balcony with a Jacuzzi and a beautiful view of the coast. But the Jacuzzi didn't work, so I just used it as a tub. The couple we were travelling with didn't have as nice of a balcony or view. And the light in their bathroom shower didn't work and was never taken care of after we notified the hotel.

Lovely Views!Posted Sep 28, 2013 on Hotels.com
This hotel has great patios in the rooms with great views! The location in spectacular and the staff was friendly. I was originally looking for a hotel in Positano, but I'm glad I ended up in Praiano. Better local food and restaurants and not so much of the tourist trap Positano is. Great restaurants, great food, great service, and easy access toPositano, Amalfi, the beach, etc. had a great time and will definitely be back. Ciao

Priaino and hotel Smeraldo areTHE place to stayPosted Oct 20, 2012
Pros: the sea view on the large balcony
Cons: cant think of any
Location: easy to reach on the sorrento - salerno bus route
I was intially cautious about staying in Priaino having no knowledge of the village however I was not disappointed by this or the hotel. The staff were verys friendly and helpful. Our room has a great big balcony with deck chairs and tables etc and the room and bathroom spacious. The meal we had in the hotel on the first night was excellent and great value. Breakfast was also very enjoyable and plenty to eat. this hotel is ideal to reach - there is a bus stop in Priaino just outside the hotel and easy to spot. The stop services both the Sita (sorrento-salerno) and the local bus doing a circuit from Positano to Priaino. From the hotel its easy to walk down into the village and further along down to the seafront restaurants. A great quiet place away from all the tourists in Amalfi. Will definately stay again and recommend it
