“A Gem of a Hotel”
We just loved this place! The setting is exquisite and the hotel itself (and the staff) is just marvelous. The rooms and the view from each room are outstanding, and everyone was extremely helpful and accommodating. Out room was made up within a half an hour of our going down for breakfast (which was on the terrace with an unbelievable view of the water), and the concierge ladies (most especially Margot) were extremely helpful for arranging local trips. We had a lovely dinner at the restaurant the first night, and I even had a massage at the spa (the masseuse is very good). I can't imagine a better place for a vacation!
“A Gem Among Gems”
My husband and I stayed in Ravello at Villa Fraulo because of positive commentaries we found on the internet. Even then it exceeded our expectations. The hotel only recently opened after a five-year renovation process. We were told it is owned by a family and that the mother grew up on the property. She has transformed it into a beautiful hotel with wonderful views, spectacular art, gorgeous silk curtains and linens and exceptional furniture in the rooms and the common areas. The views from our room and the terrace and pool are too amazing for words (some of the best in town). The staff is incredible: Margot and Flora obtained tickets for anything we needed or wanted - tickets to concerts at Villa Ruffalo, lunch at Palazzo Sasso and a private boat tour of the Amalfi coast. Antonio and Anthony were very helpful. The manager, Pompeo, made sure our stay was exceptional. The hotel rooms were much larger than other comparable four-star hotels in the area and the inside rooms are brand new with all conceivable amenities. This hotel has an enviable location in Ravello since it has both street access for easy luggage handling (a potential problem for other hotels) and the closest pedestrian access to the piazza. We will return soon!
“Supberb Hotel in Ravello”
Absolutely one of the best. Spotless,, not too big, top quality rooms and furnishings and staff couldn't do enough to be helpful. Location and view supberb. I've stayed in a lot of European hotels (my 74th trip there) and this was one of the best and price was reasonable. Would definitely always stay there in future.
“Amalfi”
The biggest problem with this hotel was internet. If you are relying on internet, it was unreliable and extremely slow. Although each room had a view, we were surprised that all the rooms were on the major road and the view from the rooms, was over the road to the other side. During the day the road was very noisy, however, at night it was quiet, so i did not present a problem. Rooms and hotel were clean. Breakfast did leave a lot to be desired. Very limited and poorly presented breakfast. Fabulous views from the breakfast room, and patio. I would stay there again if returned to Ravello. The town was good for 1-2 nights, although not much to do there.
“Good hotel, slow staff, bad desert”
Great hotel overall. Room was very loud - facing noisy road. Service of staff was ok - rather slow with everything. Had to wait for food for bfast. Didn't even try the restaurant, as tried terramissu for €8 and it was frozen Price of cake from some cheap cafe - much worth than desert we had at neighboring Villa Caruzo.
“Great Villa, Awesome Views, Improving Service”
This is a very good hotel and owner Luigi is making progress but there is still some work to do. First all the good. This is a well-built, marble laden new villa. Its views, especially at the restaurant terrace are breath-taking! Guiseppe and Marizio (who seem like twins and appear out of everywhere) are exceptional staffers! Please tip them for being so gracious! They make your stay delightful. The restaurant is good, (though honestly my first choice is da Salvatore right out the lower level where brothers Chef Lucca and Pino, the food and views are exceptional!). Fraulo's upper reception is beautiful. The bedrooms and bathrooms are posh and spotless. There is free wifi in reception area. There were 4 negs on our three day visit. 1. I would not stay below the 4th floor. Fraulo overlooks a busy road any closer and the balcony is useless. The doors are soundproof and the rooms quiet. 2. Reception desk was a little less than helpful as they had no orientation map and seemed pressed for time with other duties. 3. Upper/Lower reception entrances are confusing for first time visitor. 4. Two elevators that require changing cars is awkward. Pool spa area is just okay. All in All Villa Fraulo is a beautiful, romantic Villa and I endorse staying there. Good pricing. I encourage them to devote entirely to couples and listen to suggestions. I think they will only get better as Luigi is sincere trying to become 5 star. Best of luck we will see you upon our return!
“Beautiful Hotel but OK service”
Hotel is beautiful, great view, great location. Very comfortable and quiet. Service was ok, and i dont typically complain. We arrived two hours early and were told that we could only check in at 3:00pm on the dot. We figured as check out was at 12 that they would at least "try" to accommodate us. We asked again around 2:30pm and were told again that only at 3pm. Seemed kind of silly to me that they did not try to helps us feel comfortable before the 3 hour rule. Does it really take three hours to clean a room? Waitress at pool got our order wrong, never cleared our plates, and never asked if we needed anything else. Overall, i expect a little more service from a 5 star hotel. I recommend staying there, but dont expect them to pull out the red carpet and arrive after 3pm.
