charming and immaculate room with a stunning viewPosted Jun 5, 2013 on Hotels.com
Our room was gorgeous – painted tiles, spacious and a huge bathroom. The view from the private terrace was breathtaking. It’s a great location – central enough to get anywhere in town, yet tucked away so it’s more quiet/private than hotels on traveled streets. It’s about 75 stairs from the street and they’ll send a porter for your bags. There are steps to the beach and a nice restaurant (and a path through it to the main beach and ferries), but there's a locked gate and you have to buzz to get in/out. Someone should be at the front desk to buzz you in but not always. Breakfast on the lobby terrace was nice – fruit, breads, scones, and someone coffee, espresso and tea. The staff was pleasant but not always warm. Positano buses need tickets purchased from a shop near a stop. Some ferries require reservations for tickets and they’re packed. See the Capri grottos on a private tour – the one sold at the Capri ferry dock is only a few minutes in the grotto and they charge for the boat, for the boat that goes in the grotto, and grotto passage. The "Path of the Gods" hiking trail is gorgeous but not clearly marked and often marked in different directions. Our 2 hour hike from Nocelle to Praiano was a challenging 3.5 hour hike and there’s nothing to do there but bus back. Evenings are the best because the tourists who ferried in for the day are gone and the streets are quiet. There’s a lot of walking up and down hills and stairs – anyone who's not fit will find it strenuous.

fabulous balcony and viewPosted Oct 22, 2012 on Hotels.com
The hotel was exactly what we expected - our son and daughter-in law had stayed there a couple of years ago. Lovely large balcony and fabulous view out to sea - so nice we bought wine, cheese, procuitto and bread and had dinner there 2 of the nights we stayed! Very clean and the staff were very accommodating - we had a very early start on our day of departure and they arranged some breakfast for us. We would stay there again. The only cautionary note for anyone not in shape - it is about 300 steps down to the beach!

A magical settingPosted Oct 18, 2012
The hotel was reached down narrow stone steps and passageways on the side of a ravine which made it quiet and secluded though near the busy part of Positano. There were beautiful views of the mountain crags and the open sea.The steps went on down steeply to the pebbly beach and a hotel/restaurant along the shore where we enjoyed excellent meals hearing the sound of the waves and seeing the lights of fishing boats and villages on the cliffs. The steep walks up the mountain side gave more stunning views. The hotel staff were very attentive and helpful. The room was not luxurious but provided every comfort. The hotel was perfect for us but would not suit people with difficulty on steps.

Great base for getting around the coastPosted Sep 18, 2012
Pros: The friendly and helpful staff, the good sized rooms, the breakfast buffet and the excellent location.
Cons: The towels and bedding could have been a bit softer, but they're no worse than most other hotels.
Location: Fantastic location close to the quieter of the two beaches. Doesn't take long to get to the centre and it's a nice walk.
Great hotel and the staff were all friendly and very helpful. The rooms were big with lots of storage space, and the bathroom was also spacious with plenty of hot water. Excellent views and close to the quieter of the two beaches. The breakfast buffet had a good range and plenty of fresh fruit. Really enjoyed our stay at the Vittoria.

Be prepared for a lot of stairs!Posted Sep 16, 2012
Be prepared for a lot of stairs. It took a couple of minutes down stairs to reach the hotel (not very fun with bags) and then the trip down to the beach was another 10-15mins. Over the hotel was ok. Breakfast was an average buffet but the staff were friendly. The decor of the room was very dated but the views were gorgeous!
Lovely hotel, a bit awkward to get toPosted Sep 9, 2012 on Hotels.com
Overall we were very pleased. We had hired a car to take us from Naples to the hotel, if we had taken the train/bus option, I'm not sure we would have found it. It's hidden away in a maze of streets that are not accessible by car. This also makes it quite charming. Oh -- and the other reviewers were not kidding about the 300 steps to the beach -- we're in good shape, but in the heat when you're jetlagged, it can be quite a trek. The good news is that there is an alternative. You can walk the other way around the town to get back to the room from the beach. It takes longer, but well worth it to avoid those stairs. The hotel itself is quite lovely with helpful staff and a decent breakfast. The breakfast room and our room had stunning views -- both of the town and sea. If you have any mobility issues however, I would not recommend this hotel.
lovely hotel..........butPosted Jul 4, 2012 on Hotels.com
It was a wonderful hotel but please be aware that there are over 250 steps to negotiate down to the beach and another 74 up to the main road where all the restaurants and shopping area is. However we ate wonderfully well and didn't gain a pound!! A definite plus! Enjoy.
