“Beautiful view and terrace”
And very good restaurant. Large sprawling gorunds with lovely landscaping. In June, there was a wedding everyday. At first this is quaint. It gets to be a bother over time. Small elevators. Convenient shuttle to Amalfi but stops at 8 pm.Helpful staff. Decent breakfast.
“Spring on the Amalfi coast.”
Beautiful view. Clean, comfortable hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Unfortunately too far away from town of Amalfi. Hotel shuttle went once per hour, but not in the afternoon. Also, parking very scarce in Amalfi.
“olde worldy”
This hotel was different to the other 3 hotels that we stopped in while we were touring the Amalfi Coast. The furnishing were very olde worldy, not really to my liking. The air con was very poor, this was the 2nd room that we were given the 1st one the sea view was completely obscured by a tree out side the window. The room we had had a king sized bed and a single so it wasnt the romantic setting that I had hoped for. This was more like a 4* not the 5* as advertised. The swimming pool area was awful.
“hotel in sky”
I must compliment people working behind reception. very helpful always available to answer questions. very cordial and helpful in any situation. aimed to please.
“Good Hotel in Amalfi with private beach, needs some TLC though.”
The hotel has a great location just outside of Amalfi. The beach is the hotel's best asset. The rooms and hotel public spaces show signs of wear and even a bit of neglect. For example, the pool is losing tiles and several areas for outdoor seating around the grounds are overgrown. The bathrooms in the guest rooms have been redone, are very clean and are quite nice. The beds are pillows are very firm, so beware. The food is excellent and very reasonably priced given the location outside of Amalfi (there isn't much to walk to nearby). The staff is very friendly and accommodating. There is a free shuttle to Amalfi but it stops at 8:00pm, with 10:00 being much more practical given that dinner before 8:00pm is difficult to do. Taxi from Amalfi is 15-20 Euros.
“A five star - "Really"?”
I've stayed in a lot of four and five star hotels and this is not one of them. As most people have said, it is old and tired with many if not all of the amenities missing from what you consider a five star hotel. The location is not ideal and if you read the reviews, you know this but the shuttle service is limited and when you're stranded at the hotel there should be more than one option for dinner that starts at 7:30 PM. I paid for and used the internet which was as slow as dial up from the eighties. Again when you're stranded and want to spend a little time in your room, give the visitor more options on the TV than BBC and CNN for English channels. This hotel has missed the boat in becoming a nice customer friendly hotel with some amenities for people that want to enjoy the hotel. When you're at the beach why not have a couple of servers come around to take your order. Why not have services at the hotel that would make you want to stay at the hotel. Why not have amenities like ironing board, coffee maker, tea pot, robes, and slippers - you know, the things that make a five star hotel a five star hotel. As you can tell, I was very disappointed coming from the Artemide hotel in Rome (four star) where you are treated very well and have the service you expect to the Il Sarcenco is is much more like a three star.
“Not 5 star!”
Do not believe this hotel matched it's 5* star status. Whilst the location was stunning and it had all the necessary 5* star facilities, it failed on service. Clearly it makes a lot of money from weddings (3 whilst we were there) and did not really have to bother about satisfying the resident guests. Examples of poor service: sitting in the bar for a considerable length of time awaiting service. Eventually had to prompt the waiter. Do not believe they even considered appoaching persons to see if they would like a drink. Beach area has a prime location, however, again staff are not proactive. No attempts to approach quests see if they would like anything from the bar or provide an enticing lunch. As it was we went elsewhere. Equally, there was a charge for a visiting friend to sit with on the beach for 3 hours - 20 euros. He was unable to park his car at the hotel due to a wedding and we felt the charge was overpriced and unnecessary as it could have been easily recouped in bar and lunch costs, if we have felt welcome. No ironing facilities in room - reason, security!! Had to pay 4 euros to get a dress ironned, which is a first for me in a 5* star hotel. I am afraid I felt the service was poor and did not reflect it's 5* star status. However, Amalfi, Postiano and Ravello are some on the prettiest towns I have ever visited and it is well worth the visit, however I would not reccommend the Il saraceno - beware the added extras!!!
“NOT IMPRESSED - NO WAY 5 STAR”
We stayed here for three days and compared to the two other 5 star hotels we stayed in this was by far the worse. Very old in decoration and rooms were decorated in a very basic style. Air Con is very old and very very noisy. Breakfast was of a very poor standard and had to pay extra for scrambled eggs and bacon. All that was offered was cereal and some fruit. Very poor selection. Staff did not explain about extra costs. Restaurant staff very unhelpful and poor understanding of english had to ask five times for a cup of hot water and lemon. Location is very nice and has great views but the hotel specialise in weddings and this does create alot of noise until very late. When we complained we got told they have weddings nearly every night in the summer time and could do nothing about noise. Worse night was until 3am band playing. At best this is 4 star but after staying in other hotels i would class this more like 3 star.
“Hated the hotel”
The hotel staff do not know what the meaning of service is! They ignore you, do not give correct information, and not helpful at all. We ended up asking local public to help us. They did not care that we were paying customers.
