Small authentic Italian family run hotelPosted Jul 11, 2014
Pros: Small, quiet, genuine, Italian helpful staff with a setting away from the worst of the high season madness. Praiano retains some old world charm.
Cons: One or two minor maintenance items could be addressed.
Location: There are enough good restaurants local to walk to, for other excursions use the bus or water taxi.
Renovated to high standard about a year ago, this hotel is well run by Antonio and his brothers. The breakfast includes home baking and local ingredients and would please most as it is enjoyed looking out to sea on the patio. The rooms are large and air conditioned. The team was helpful with our bookings to Capri from the little local harbour you can walk to.

Bad atmospherePosted Jun 30, 2014
Even though the room was OK, the atmosphere in the hotel is depressing. We arrived at 1300 and There was no one there to open us the gate. We had to wait for 20min until someone could open us the gate and waited 30min more for check in since the hotel manager went to the post office. The hotel manager treat us badly when we asked for 2nd set of towels. Wouldn't recommend this hotel. There is a lot of good places near by for the same price.

Spacious room overlooking the Amalfi CoastPosted Jun 29, 2014
Pros: Our room was lovely and airy with spectacular views through large French doors. The service was good, but unobtrusive.
Cons: Perhaps keeping a check that the self-serve breakfast buffet was topped up.
Location: Praiano is one of the quieter villages on the Amalfi Coast. Boats run from Amalfi to the island of Capri and the Emerald Grotto. Buses go to Ravello.
Our arrival at Maresca Hotel Praiano was preceded by a hair-raising drive along the Amalfi Coast road from Salerno. We parked our hire car in the hotel car park (spacious by Amalfi Coast standards & room for 6 cars) and were greeted by Antonio who helped us down several flights of stairs with our luggage, gave us advice about dining and sightseeing options, and showed us to our room. We were delighted to have a bedroom and separate lounge/dining area and a balcony with lovely views over the Amalfi Coast. Continental breakfast was served on a terrace on the next level down under the shelter of a large lemon tree trained over a trellis. The hotel didn't have a restaurant which meant walking along the narrow roadway (avoiding cars, bikes and buses) then down MANY stairs.....all part of the Amalfi Coast experience!! There were quite a number of eateries tucked into the cliff face to be discovered. The Amalfi Coast bus service had a stop almost outside the hotel and ran fairly frequently (if you didn't mind the same hair-raising journey strap-hanging in a crowded bus!!). The Tabacchi two doors down sold bus tickets as well as groceries etc.

Amazing viewsPosted Oct 24, 2013 on Hotels.com
Every room in this small, intimate hotel overlooks the sea, which is the biggest expanse of blue and blends into the sky. It is simply stunning. The rates are very reasonable and the hotel is basic but with with such views and good location, it works out well. The staff and owners of the hotel are very friendly and we really felt the Southern Italian hospitality that made us feel relaxed and at ease.

Great place to stay with parking if you are driving. Our room had its own large patio ~ it was beautiful and the staff was very friendly. We sat outside to read or just look at the ocean. Good places to walk to from there as well. Driving the Amalfi coast is a challenge so think about taking a bus.

Good place for all ages.Posted Aug 8, 2013
Praiano is a small place in Napoli and public transport is very easy to come by. The area is close to many places, eg. 20 minutes to Amalfi by bus, whilst Sorento is an hour away passing Positano. However, these buses are not always on time but are available frequently throughout the day. The hotel was small but very clean. Despite being run and managed by a family of three man, it was managed well. The breakfast was served generously. The concave beach is within 5 minute walking distance and there are restaurants close by. It was good to experience the local lifestyle as we climbed - what seemed to be - hundred of steps to get to the local supermarket and the people in Praiano are helpful. I would recommend the place for a simple, chilled holiday and I would definately revisit Praiano in the future.

Nice hotel but the staff could have been betterPosted Jul 10, 2013
Pros: The room and view
Cons: The staff
Location: Perfect location providing you have a car
Ideal location to avoid the crowds of Positano but still be close enough to the action providing you have a car. Though be warned that on site parking is €10 per day. The rooms were really nice, clean and comfortable, and the view was superb. The staff weren't as helpful as they could have been, as our TV was not working and they really did seem to care about fixing it and we were unable to turn our air conditioning on because they didn't believe it was warm enough.

Exceptionally clean, beautiful views, helpful and knowledgable staff. Staff spoke exceptional English. Located near good restaurants. Would high recommend this hotel to anyone staying on the Amalfi coast.
