“Quiet, spacious room in Amalfi”

Great deal! A large room with a table and chairs as well as the bed and an adorable kitchen in a cabinet arrangement that was just fine for a short stay- two burner stove, small fridge, and sink with pots, pans, and utensils. Even if you don't cook it's great for picnic breakfast and lunch. There is a restaurant just below so it is a little noisy at night, but hey! You're in Amalfi and it's part of the old town scene. The owner was gracious and helpful and we would be delighted to stay here again.

However it was a great naval power and a wealthy trading republic in medieval times. Its dramatic setting in jagged cliffs cloaked in vineyards is best seen from a boat. Amalfis star turn is a gorgeous cathedral with great bronze doors and lacy cloisters. The nearby village of Atrani is quiet and pretty, with a fine Byzantine church.
