“It was "ok"”

Because the hotel was in a college town in the downtown area, the hotel attracted college students that like to party into the middle of the night. Did not get much sleep.

“smoky room with paper thin towels for shower- mirror gone, but the nails still in wall”

the room smelled of cigaret smoke even though they called it non smoking and there were big holes in the wall where most hotels have a mirror next to the tv, but no mirror was in the room. also the towels for the shower were worn thin and even stained

“credit card”

The only thing that bothered me was the motel desk clerk wrote my credit card no on the back of my reservation. When I ask him about it he said it would be distroyed. Was it?????????????????????????

“Bird crap in the room”

Wow...walked into the hotel, checked in, walked up the stairs to our room and smelled the pungent odor of cigarette smoke in the hall...then we opened our room door to find the window wide open in 45 degree rainy weather and the window did not have a screen on it. Closed the window, cranked the heat and looked down to find bird crap on the window sill as well as on the table in the room. Went back to the desk and asked for the room to be cleaned immediately or get a new room and we were issued a new room with an insincere apology. The room we then checked in to was smaller than the first but at least was clean. Also addressed the smoking issue with the man at the front desk...shortly thereafter saw a hotel employee smoking outside. I suspect she was the one smoking inside when we originally checked in. Also, typical continental breakfast, however, styrofoam bowls were given to cook oatmeal...styrofoam is not supposed to be used to cook in.

Area recommendations

Pick a different hotel close to ISU. There are several others.

“A nice place to stay for a very nice price”

The room that I stayed in (King) was a very nice room. The property is in a good location. The price was great and the room was above average. The only issue that I had is that the patroms for the restaurant next door are allowed to share the parking lot. This makes it very tough to find a place to park if you want to go out for dinner and return between 7 - 10 pm at night. Not nearly enough parking to share with a restaurant.

“Good location”

Overall had a good stay at the Ames Days Inn. Great location-- right near ISU campus. Breakfast was less than satisfactory. Beds and pillows were comfortable but bathroom door was not level with the hinges. Overall, very nice place to stay.

“A bargain for the price”

The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Great location, close to restaurants, Target, and a quick easy drive to campus. Room was clean and comfortable, continental breakfast had many option. If you don't need all of the luxuries of a pool, etc., this is a comfortable, convenient, and inexpensive place to stay.
